The Holy Week opportunities will be such an exciting experience at Palm Coast United Methodist Church. The church campus will be filled with praise singing and preached word…all to the glory of God! We all place our trust in Christ – hope in Him – that we may bring God glory with our lives. In fact, the Apostle Paul tells us regarding the resurrection:
“If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins…but in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have died.” I Corinthians 15:17 & 20
As we approach Holy Week, you will find many opportunities for spiritual growth and renewal. Please take the time to read this schedule closely.
Palm Sunday – On this day we celebrate Jesus’ triumphant ride into Jerusalem as the people’s King with songs and palms (read Luke 17:28-40). On Sunday, April 13th, we will observe this Sunday in music and the preached word at both experiences.
Music and Meditation – Join us Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from noon to 12:30 p.m. for a time of contemplation and prayer, accompanied by instrumental music. Holy Communion will be offered and all are welcome to attend.
Maundy Thursday – This day is also known as Holy Thursday. It is the commemoration of Jesus’ washing the disciples’ feet and the institution of the Lord’s Supper in the Upper Room in Jerusalem, the eve before His crucifixion. The word “Maundy” comes from the Latin word “Mandatum” which means “to command” (read John 13). Join us on Thursday, April 17th at 6 p.m. for the Communion experience at 6 p.m.
Good Friday – The Way of the Cross, a musical production at 6 p.m. Good Friday is a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death on Calvary.
Easter Sunday – This day is also known as Resurrection Sunday. This is the time of triumph because Jesus Christ rose again from death. The heavy stone which had sealed the tomb in which Jesus was buried had been rolled away and the tomb was empty (read Matthew 28). On Easter Sunday, April 20th, we celebrate our risen Savior in music and word at all three worship experiences. (7, 8:30 & 10:30 a.m.)
All worship is amazing at Palm Coast United Methodist Church, so invite your friends and neighbors to experience these Holy Week opportunities.
Welcome to Holy Week,
Dr. Kevin M. James, Sr.
