Check out this Eagle project with a whole lot of heart! Eagle Scout candidate Marshall J. of Troop 902 rallied his team to support Prince George County Animal Services & Adoption Center, resulting in an incredible collection of much-needed supplies to help care for dogs and cats waiting for their forever homes. This is what the Eagle Scout service project is all about: identifying a need, bringing people together, and leading others in service that makes a lasting difference. Way to go, Marshall and Troop 902!

Join Scouting Night Events and Resources

We are busily holding Join Scouting Night events for elementary (and some intermediate) schools in Central Virginia. Parents, unit leaders, and Scouts can help spread the word by sharing those events on their Pack Facebook pages and groups, their personal pages, and neighborhood groups. It also helps to interact with those posts on the Heart of Virginia Council's own Facebook page by liking and/or commenting. Did you know that we have peer-to-peer recruitment cards available? Scouts can invite their friends to visit your unit directly, and possibly earn the Recruiter Strip for their uniform!

Popcorn Costume-Making Workshop
Saturday, September 5th at 9am

The 2026 Fall Fundraiser has officially begun, but it doesn't feel officially official until Scouts are dressed up in adorable Popcorn box costumes! These costumes make for a great addition to your already exciting Show & Sell table or booth, and are pretty hard to say no to. Come out and make one (or two) of your very own for just $10 each.

October 17-18 and 24-25

The sun is high, the days are bright, but autumn's creeping into sight! Deep in the woods where the tall trees sway, the pumpkins are dreaming of Halloween day. The ghosts stretch and giggle, the bats start to swoop, "The Cub Scouts are coming!" they whisper, "Whoop! Whoop!" Join us for two weekends of family-friendly Halloween fun at Cub Adventure Camp. Whether you're braving the Haunted Trail, painting pumpkins, trying your hand at archery, or gathering around the campfire, there's something for every Cub Scout family to enjoy.

James River District AOL to Scout Transition Fair

September 29th, 6:30pm

The James River District invites Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts and their parents to join Scouts BSA Troops at this year's Webelos to Scouts Transition Fair. The Fair will provide an opportunity for Scouts and their parents to meet representatives of James River District Troops, ask questions, talk about Troop activities, and find out what each unit has to offer. Our hope is that this Fair will help Scouts and parents find a Troop that meets their needs. All Scout's parents/guardians are asked to please pre-register. There is no cost to register for or attend this event.
