The Word This Sunday
May 17, 2020 - Sixth Sunday of Easter
Jesus does not abandon his followers. Through the Holy Spirit, Jesus comes to abide with his disciples of every generation. As Pentecost draws near, we are reminded that the risen Christ dwells in us as the Spirit of truth. We receive this Spirit in baptism and pray that in our gathering around the Lord’s table the Spirit will transform us to be the body of the risen Christ in the world.

Paul’s message to the Athenians

Bless our God, you peoples; let the sound of praise be heard. (Ps. 66:8)

A Message From Your Council President

Despite the Tennessee “reopening” including special exemptions for churches, the synod is strongly recommending that worship remain virtual until the end of May at least. Considering the age of many members of our congregation, I absolutely agree with this direction.

However, we do need to think about what “reopening” means to Epiphany. The synod is further recommending that each congregation form a committee to make recommendations on what changes need to take place in order for us to safely have service at Schaeffer Memorial Chapel again. If you would like to volunteer for this committee, please contact Pastor TroyAnn or Phil Goetz.

Thank you. Phil Goetz, Council President
