Robert Nishimoto, a Japanese American from Hawaii, became a missionary in 1958 while serving in the US Air Force in Louisiana. He went to Thailand in 1961, where he continues his ministry today. Robert was one of the first Pentecostal missionaries from the US to reside and work in Thailand.
Robert co-planted the first Pentecostal church in Chiengmai in 1964, and the Bangkok Fellowship Church in 1967. Robert authored the Thai Bible Concordance in 1983 and gave all rights to the Bible Society. He was President of Thailand Pentecostal Bible College for twelve years. He also authored the History of Pentecostal and Charismatic Mission in Thailand that was published in The Global Renewal Christianity of Spirit-Empowered Movements, Past, Present and Future (Asia/Oceana) pictured below.
For the past 61 years he has been a faithful witness of the Gospel in Thailand.
Recently Mr. Nishimoto sent Geobound an update. Here’s an excerpt of what he is doing:
“In May, Dang [Robert’s wife] and I went to Chiengmai up north and spoke in a church camp up in the mountains. This is the small group of believers we have been helping. About 35 people attended our sessions day and night. Then on Sunday, I spoke in the church. One non-believer accepted the Lord as her Savior. We had discussions as to how the church can grow. My subject was "Member Responsibilities to the Church"…
I am having interesting experiences with students at school. As I teach English, the Lord gives me thoughts I had not prepared. I also gave them my background of how I met Jesus. This was probably the first time they have heard about Jesus Christ. So, I know that the Lord has given me an open door to the hearts of these students. I realize that this is the reason why God still has me here in Thailand, to be a witness for Him…”
