Training Tip from B.A.A. Coach Sarah Healy
|
|
"Even though we are still over two months away from race day, proper fueling is essential to allow your body to get the maximum benefit from the marathon training you are putting in. You want to refuel your body with foods that optimize recovery and performance benefits during your entire marathon preparation cycle. Make sure you are eating plenty of protein, essential vitamins, minerals, fats and carbohydrates, staying hydrated, and taking in fuel 30-60 minutes after your harder training efforts. You should be practicing using the fuel you will use during the Boston Marathon on your long runs so your body is used to it during the race. The Boston Marathon provides Maurten Energy Gels, Lemon-Lime Gatorade Endurance, and Poland Spring water at aid stations along the course, so it is a good idea to practice using these products leading up to race day." — Sarah Healy, B.A.A.
