Dedicating Resources To Athletes For Brain Healing and Brain Health Resulting From Sports Related Concussions.
A Year We All Won't Forget!
This year has rightfully emphasized the importance of family, health and awareness of others who are not as fortunate. During this unusual time, the daily headlines are filled with the obvious. However we continue to witness heartfelt generosity for others in need, especially at OneHitAway Foundation. With honor and gratitude, we thank you for your timely support, financial & non-financial gifts during 2020. This vital assistance continues to provide to those affected athletes and that would not have taken place without you.

Too many past and current athletes are struggling with the ill-effects of sports related brain injuries that unfortunately impacts their quality of life and their loved-ones' in confusing and potentially tragic ways.

Together We Can Reverse This Reality.
We Honor Your Partnership!
You Helped Us Make It A OneHitAway
Virtual Success!

The need to adjust the 6th Annual Charity Event to a "Virtual" venue on October 8-13th certainly did not deter our supporters' and followers' enthusiasm. Even though this was new set-up for our team, it was most impressive to witness the relentless participation through the multiple donations and bidding for the five straight days. Here are a few of the highlights:

  • The goal of net financial resources raised was exceeded!
  • Over 20 generous business sponsors helped make this a success.
  • Released the 2020 OneHitAway Documentary.
  • We shared this year's OHA highlights including some of following:
> Serviced highest number of OHA recipients in one year since OHA's inception.
> Launched the www.onehitawayambassadors.org website.
Featuring This Year's 2020 Documentary

Did You Know This About Our Incredible Brains?*

  • The brain is the most complex organ in the universe.
  • It has 100 BILLION neurons (nerve or brain cells).
  • Trillions of connections to other cells.
  • The human brain can process information as fast as 268 mph.
  • There are 100,000 miles of blood vessels in the brain.
  • Each person has about 70,000 thoughts a day, 50% in words and 50% in images.
  • While awake, a human brain can generate enough energy to power a light bulb (between 10-23 watts).
  • It’s a myth that we only use 10% of the brain. A loss of 90% of its function would likely result in being a vegetable or being dead.
  • We need and use all our brain – although we aren’t using every single neuron at every moment.
  • When the brain is healthy you have more brain reserve. This protects you from developing dementia BUT diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity can hurt the brain and increase your chances of getting dementia.
