Change in UT Austin Essay Requirements

Attention Summer/Fall ‘24 applicants to UT Austin: You are now required to submit only one essay with your application (Spring ‘24 applicants submitted 2 essays). Applicants to the School of Architecture and Studio Art, Art Education and Art History must submit an additional essay. View application requirements .

Assured Admissions Spreadsheet

Did you know that many universities offer assured (or guaranteed) admissions? As long as you meet the course and GPA requirements of the university you’re pursuing, you can secure admission to a bachelor’s degree program at that institution. Former ACC student Nazhin Nikaeen is majoring in Computational Biology at the University of Texas at Austin. Her advice to students aspiring to transfer:

“I recommend participating in all Transfer Essentials workshops held by ACC Transfer Services. Connect with a transfer specialist early on to gain a deeper understanding of how the transfer process works.”

New ACC Chancellor Appointed

The ACC Board of Trustees approved the employment agreement of Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart during its regular board meeting on August 21. Dr. Lowery-Hart will begin his service as the ninth ACC Chancellor effective Sunday, October 1. Dr. Lowery-Hart has served Amarillo College since 2014. Read More.

ACC Students Transfer to Reputable 4-year Schools

Computer Science student Valerie Calderon-Meyer begins her first semester at Yale this fall. Valerie began at ACC in spring 2022 after finishing her military service in the Navy. “It felt impulsive to be applying to Yale. I realized that my experience as a Navy veteran gave me a unique life perspective. The ACC Transfer Service team helped me every step of the way.” Read more about Valerie’s story here .

After being accepted to several four-year institutions, including Rice University, Jack Munro chose to transfer to the University of Texas at Austin in fall 2023. Commenting on ACC’s resources, he said, “The multiple campuses around Central Texas are convenient. I was able to attend transfer panels and get my questions answered. The aid in the transfer process is invaluable.” Read more about Jack’s story here .

Summer Events Held by Transfer Services

In July 2023, Transfer Services held a Transfer Bootcamp at Highland campus which was widely attended by ACC students. Through presentations, workshops, and interactive panel discussions, the 2-day event gave students the opportunity to understand the ins and outs of the transfer process.

In August 2023, a Transfer Achievement Celebration was held to recognize ACC students who were recently accepted to a four-year institution. Family members and mentors of students were also invited to the event, making it a memorable occasion for those transferring.
