Welcome back from the winter break! We hope the new year and spring semester have kicked off to a wonderful start. Be sure to make the most of the many resources that ACC has to offer, and explore the advantages of being a Riverbat.

In this edition’s Student Spotlight, you’ll get to know more about Lori Medeiros and Marissa Gamez, ACC transfer students and best friends who transferred to UT last fall and are both pursuing Social Work degrees.

Exciting spring events are in the works, including our spring Transfer Week, featuring workshops, university information sessions, a transfer student panel, and university visits to campuses across the district. Spring Transfer Week is coming soon! Attend workshops, panels, and university information sessions to help you explore options and plan for your upcoming transfer. Highlights include:

Make a Note of Fall Transfer Deadlines!

The Fall 2024 deadlines for UT Austin and Texas A&M (College Station) are approaching. Make sure you submit your applications by March 1, 2024.
The Fall 2024 priority deadline for Texas State University is February 15, 2024, while the final deadline is July 15. Apply early to get priority consideration for financial aid and scholarships.

Assured Admissions Spreadsheet

Did you know that many universities offer assured (or guaranteed) admissions? As long as you meet completed hour and GPA requirements of the university you’re pursuing, you can secure admission in a bachelor’s degree program at that institution. Check out our assured admissions spreadsheet for details.

Lori Medeiros and Marissa Gamez, former ACC students majoring in social work, successfully made the transition to UT Austin in the fall of 2023. They initially connected through ACC Transfer Services, supported each other during the transfer process, and continue to do so at UT. Lori shares, “Marissa and I bonded immediately and declared our friendship would continue at UT and beyond.”

As non-traditional students, Marissa and Lori offer similar advice to aspiring transfer students. According to them, everyone has the ability if they are willing to put in the work. Marissa suggests, “Use all of the resources ACC provides. Take each class seriously and do your best. It’s all possible if you believe in yourself and invest in your future by investing in your education.”

ACC Graduate Transfers to Columbia University

Marc Stoyer, ACC graduate, completed his associate degree in Physics and Economics in spring 2023. He is now pursuing Physics at Columbia University. While at ACC, Marc joined the Honors Program and Phi Theta Kappa (PTK). He earned a PTK scholarship to help pay for his schooling at Columbia. Acknowledging Honors Program chair and professor, Dr. Anne-Marie Thomas, Marc said, “Thank you for running such a tight-knit and well-oiled machine that is the Honors program and, as a result, giving me the opportunity to make many of the lasting connections I have.” Read more about Marc’s journey here.

ACC Transfer Services Tours: Texas State & Concordia

ACC Transfer Services organized a transfer tour to Texas State and Concordia in December 2023. The daylong tour was widely attended by ACC students, who got a glimpse of the campus facilities and spaces, and attended admissions information sessions.
