Welcome to October. The first day of the month is the perfect day to take stock of where your running is at. In today's The Irish Times I write about how taking some time today to reflect and to plan can really help the month ahead be so much more enjoyable and productive.

While all our running goals and fitness levels are different, having this monthly check-in stops us from getting too far off track. Even more importantly it helps us focus on all that we have achieved rather than dwell on what we didn't do as well as we might have liked.

So with that in mind here are our September highlights....
and all our plans for October and beyond.....

September Highlights
We started the month on a serious high as we escaped to the South of France to plan our runners retreat for 2020. We now have a plan in place and can't wait to bring some of you along with us next May.

Once back we were right back into the start of our new autumn term of running classes.
During September had running technique workshops, a run/yoga daytrip, a weekend popup in Donabate and workshops with our marathoners in training as they count down the days until KBC Dublin Marathon.

We were out and about cheering and taking part at the races and so proud of all our gang as it was a month of 5k and 10k races, first timer half marathons, some exotic marathons and ultras, parkrun milestones and travels and some trail running adventures.

Running isn't just about races. Well done to all our gang who has stayed motivated getting out the door on days when the excuses were easy to find. Running is not just for young people too. Check out this article on running as we get a little older in the Irish Examiner this month too.

Mary's articles in The Irish Times this month were on running with your phone and one for all of us.. how to keep on going when you want to stop on the run.

We have so many photos of the month that we must really put together a little slideshow for you all, but you can see some of the photo highlights here.

Our October Plans
We want to encourage you to enjoy running, stay running and have fun this October.

Running Classes

Classes continue all autumn in Sandymount and Clontarf. Join us midterm this week as we continue with 4 weeks of running classes bringing us right up to Halloween. See Autumn Class Timetable. We will have another winter term starting in November but this wont have any beginners classes.

Free Lapsed Runners Class

If its over a year since you have run and need a kickstart in the right direction, we are going to organise a free class to get you back moving again. Just let us know if you are tempted and what location suits you and we can send you the details when we pick a date.

Chi Running Workshops

Mary's Two Hour Sunday Technique Workshop is suitable for all levels of runner and shows you how to enjoy running more and avoid injury. There are 2 upcoming workshops in Palmerstown ( this Sunday) and Donabate, Dublin (next month).

Booking for France 2020

The excitement is building as we launch details of our trip to the south of France in May 2020. Booking will open on Thursday 3rd October at 1pm.

Read about Running

Mary's book ' Get Running ' remains available online (and check out the lovely Amazon reviews) and in all good book shops. It might just be what you need to help you get up off the couch and get motivated. Mary also will continue to write her fortnightly piece in Tuesday's The Irish Times.

Dublin Marathon

Our marathon coaching programme is well underway for KBC Dublin Marathon and we continue our workshops this week as we count down to the big day. Join us out on the streets on the 27th October as we cheer on these hardy runners who have worked so hard all summer. We will also have plenty marathon blog posts to keep you sane!

Thank You

As always to everyone who has attended classes, workshops and events, all who have bought the Get Running book, listened in on the TV/Radio interviews, read the newspaper columns, shared our social media posts or told their friends and family about what we do, sent words of encouragement or supported our charity tshirts - Thank You.
Look to the future

Here's to a great October for you all.
Come join us if you need a gentle kick in the right direction.

If you have any questions, be sure to get in touch.
