Our First Creative Harmony Workshop Was a Hit—Are You Signed Up for the Next Two?

We had an amazing time at our first Creative Harmony workshop, ā€œOur Family, Our Faces,ā€ where families came together for an evening of mask-making and mural painting. It was a joyful night full of creativity, connection, and community... and we’re just getting started!

If you missed the first session, don’t worry, there are still two more FREE workshops coming up:

🄁 May 12 – In Rhythm Together (Ages 12 & up)

Join a live drum circle and experience the power of music and movement. No experience needed!

šŸ”„ May 19 – Symbols of Us (Ages 12 & up)

Create a family crest using woodburning techniques in a creative workshop that honors your shared heritage.

Workshops run from 5:30 – 7:00 PM at Child & Family Center (21545 Centre Pointe Parkway). These events are a great way to connect with your loved ones and explore creativity in a relaxed, family-friendly setting.

Celebrating Milestones: Staff Anniversary Lunch with the CEO

This April, Child & Family Center had the pleasure of hosting one of our largest Staff Anniversary Lunches with the CEO to date! It was a meaningful opportunity to gather as a team, enjoy a delicious meal, and celebrate the dedicated staff members marking their work anniversaries.

The luncheon, hosted by President & CEO Nikki Buckstead, offered a space to reflect on individual and team accomplishments, share stories, and connect across departments. Events like these remind us how valuable each team member is to our mission and how much we can accomplish when we work together.

To all our incredible staff celebrating anniversaries: thank you for your commitment, compassion, and continued service. We’re grateful for everything you bring to the Child & Family Center team!

Volunteer Appreciation Week

Thank you to all our amazing volunteers—your time, energy, and kindness make a lasting difference in our community every day. We truly couldn’t do it without you!

As We Enter May Let’s Support Mental Health Together

As we enter May and kick off Mental Health Awareness Month, Child & Family Center invites our community to take a moment to reflect on how we can better support those facing mental health challenges. With one in five individuals affected each year, chances are someone close to you could use extra compassion and connection.

This month, we’re focusing on four practical ways to support loved ones who may be struggling:

  • Encourage open communication without pressuring – Let them know you're there to listen, with no expectations or pressure to share more than they’re ready to.
  • Practice compassionate listening – Be present, patient, and attentive. Sometimes just being there makes all the difference.
  • Use 'I' statements to foster connection – Saying ā€œI’m here for youā€ or ā€œI’ve noticed you seem stressedā€ can open the door to meaningful conversation without judgment.
  • Adapt communication to their needs – Everyone’s experience is unique. Speak in ways that show empathy and understanding.

Let’s work together to break stigma, offer support, and remind those around us that they’re not alone. Even small acts of kindness and understanding can have a lasting impact.

Together, we can make May a month of connection, hope, and healing.

Here's a glimpse into March's impact:

- Conducted a total of 6,469 sessions

- Welcomed 101 new clients to our Center

- Celebrated the graduation of 136 clients from our services

- Provided support to 1,002 unique individuals
