Sheriff Updates Chamber Members during Coffee & Commerce
Chamber members met together last week at Away Down South to network and receive an update from New WF Sheriff Brian Spillman.
Spillman shared his vision for the WF Sheriff's Department. He explained that there has been a smooth transition from Sheriff Austin Daniel to himself. Covid restrictions have held up some changes, but when possible he is ready to implement new community programs such as a Citizens' Academy said Spillman. "This program (utilized by other departments around the country) would help train citizens in what to watch for an/or report if they witness a crime. It also helps create community partnerships by exposing citizens to the inner workings and daily activities of the Sheriff's office."
Spillman also updated the Chamber on pandemic restrictions that are in place within the state and how our parish is in-acting them. Spillman encouraged all business owners to clearly post their stores' and businesses' policies during this time and let his department know if there are any issues with customers not following their store's policy.

Grandmother's Buttons -
A Handmade Local Treasure
The charming jewelry and gift store located in downtown St. Francisville known as Grandmother’s Buttons has now became an international wholesale brand and growing internet retailer. This growing brand has its humble beginnings in Susan Davis’ grandmother’s thirty-plus button boxes. “One of the guiding principles of my grandmother’s life was to save anything that could be repurposed,” said Davis. “We never throw anything away in our family.” In 1985 after taking home several of her grandmother’s button boxes, Davis started repurposing antique buttons into jewelry.

Photo - Includes current retail jewelry, photos of Susan and her daughter Anna, photos from their Button Museum as well as photos through the years of Susan's mother and grandmother. Visit their store at 9814 Royal St. and their website -
