BELD Earns Prestigious

Diamond Safety Award

Safety isn’t just part of the job at BELD—it’s a way of life! And that commitment has once again been recognized with the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Diamond Safety Award of Excellence for 2024!

Earning this top-tier honor means BELD isn’t just talking the talk when it comes to safety—we’re walking the (well-lit and hazard-free) walk! Each year, more than 200 utilities across the country compete for the APPA Safety Awards, with rankings based on workplace injuries and safety records. The Diamond designation is the highest level, proving that BELD’s dedication to safety shines bright.

“At BELD, safety isn’t just a priority—it’s who we are,” said Bill Bottiggi, General Manager of BELD. “This award reflects the hard work, teamwork, and vigilance our crews bring to the job every single day.”

Jon Beasley, Chair of APPA’s Safety Committee, put it best: “Working with electricity is serious business. Without the right safety measures, the job can go from routine to risky in a flash. This award recognizes those utilities that make safety the priority—for both employees and the communities they serve.”

BELD will continue to power Braintree with the same safe, reliable, and efficient energy that earned us this honor. After all, when it comes to safety, we don’t just meet the standard—we set it!

Keep an eye out for us in this year’s Braintree Day Parade on June 28!

Cut Your Energy Costs with These Simple Tips

Even though BELD’s electric rates are among the lowest around, you can still cut your bill with a few smart changes. Start with a FREE BELD home energy audit to find the biggest energy drains—likely your heating and cooling systems. Adding insulation, sealing air leaks, and using energy-efficient appliances can lead to significant savings.

Small changes, like setting your thermostat wisely (68°F in winter, 78°F in summer), using LED bulbs, and unplugging unused electronics, add up. Bigger investments—like heat pumps, energy-efficient windows, or solar panels—can drastically cut energy costs in the long run.
