Dr. Mike Armstrong serves the Assistant Athletic Director, the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, and an Assistant Football Coach working with the Offensive Line in his third year at Lugoff-Elgin High School. Coach Armstrong has 29 years of coaching and teaching experience having previously coached at River Bluff, Spring Valley, Dorman and Irmo High Schools. He also coached collegiately at Georgia Tech as a graduate assistant strength coach on the 1990 NCAA National Championship Football Team and the University of South Carolina as an Assistant Strength Coach. Coach Armstrong was named the SCHAACA State Coach of the Year in 2017 and the 4A SCHSSCA Strength Coach of the Year in 2017 and 2018. He holds National Board Certification, is certified by USA Weightlifting and SPARQ, is certified by the National Association of Speed and Explosion, and is a Certified Tsunami Bar Specialist. Armstrong was honored as the 2002/2003 AFLAC National Assistant Coach of the Year. In 2007 and 2015, he served as an assistant football coach at the Max Emfinger All-American Bowl in Shreveport and Lafayette, LA, respectively.
