Advancements in Blackstone's Geospatial Services

Increasing GPS Collection Accuracy and Streamlining Data Collection

Many environmental and civil engineering projects require accurate spatial locating for data collection and surveying in the field, and Blackstone is pleased to announce two exciting new advancements to our UAV and Geospatial Service Line. The first advancement is related to increasing our GPS collection spatial accuracy and secondly to streamline data collection.

Project Profile: Former Manufacturing Property Redevelopment Project

Blackstone staff in Iowa worked with a former manufacturing property to conduct wetland delineation and oversee hazardous materials abatement, and is currently assisting with redevelopment planning and completion of the Land Recycling Program for this large site.

Blackstone Employee Scoop

Congrats: Austin Quick, PE, recently received his Professional Engineering License. Austin, a KU grad in atmospheric science and civil engineering, has been a project engineer at Blackstone since 2016. He provides civil/water resource engineering and environmental permitting services and is experienced in landfill design and construction, streambank stabilization, site development, air permitting and compliance, and odor mitigation. Kudos Austin!

10-Year Anniversary: Blackstone marked a decade on October 29. Founded by President, CEO and Principal Mike Kukuk, PG, Blackstone provides a collaborative, innovative and entrepreneurial space for environmental professionals to practice their scientific and engineering crafts, and offers the best in services and solutions. Blackstone's diverse team of 17 includes engineers, geologists, scientists and technicians in Kansas, Iowa and Missouri.

Celebrations: Blackstone kept up with fall and winter traditions in 2020. We hosted our annual chili cook-off (congrats to Ed Guernsey, PE, for winning again this year with his Chipotle Chili) and celebrated Christmas with food, fun, games and gifts.
