Scripture of the week:
Happy Birthday Baby Jesus!

nativity_scene.jpg

Luke 2:6-14
“6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. 8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

We rejoice with all of you in this amazing gift God has given us. We are so thankful for our entire SOCS community! We wish all of you a blessed Christmas Season!

 Attention SOCS Community!

We Need Your Help! In only 1 week we have completely sold out of the 559 dozen pig-in-the-blankets that we made on December 8th. WOW!! We plan to make an extra large batch this coming Monday, December 21st in order to get us through break. We would appreciate if all SOCS families could help that day in order to complete this task. Bring a Christmas treat to share, we'll have on the Christmas music and lets make it a fun time of fellowship before the holidays. Hope to see you there!

Weather Woes - With the weather beginning to turn colder, we ask that you please make sure students are prepared for outdoor recess. Please be sure to send along to school coats, hats and gloves to be available when needed.
In the event that inclement weather causes school cancellations, South Olive follows the West Ottawa transportation schedule. Which means….if they close, we close. This will be posted on the local television and radio stations. If there is a two-hour delay, there will be NO preschool that day.

SOCS Mission Statement:
Equipping students with the wisdom and knowledge to become effective Christ followers and bring peace and restoration to earth.
