Summer camp - an amazing experience for our kids!

UKRAINE - The kids at Living Pearl were blessed to participate in a three day summer camp last month.

Summer fun included trips to the lake, BBQs and ice cream!

Studying the Bible, jumping on a trampoline, crafts and sports were all a wonderful way to end the summer along with trips to the lake, harvesting tomatoes and barbecues.

School started September 1st in Ukraine. We are thankful that our kids are able to attend school in person. It is estimated that 1.7 million Ukrainian students will have limited in person or fully online classes due to safety issues for students and staff.

UKRAINE - Living Pearl’s cellar is the current bomb shelter for the children and staff. And although things have been relatively stable in the region, there are air raid alerts daily and sheltering in the cellar when necessary.

Recently we received the mandate to upgrade our bomb shelter or the many orphans who are housed in hospitals now – mostly because of the war – would not be able to transfer to Living Pearl for support. Now this issue has become critical because there is an order from the President that all institutions without properly equipped bomb shelters will be closed.

We have started the process to upgrade to a “properly equipped” bomb shelter - defined as having lights, water, heating, sewage and first aid supplies among other requirements. We estimate upgrading to pass inspection will cost about $2,537 USD.

TOP OFFICIALS TRAINED TO COMBAT HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN THE PHILIPPINES

PHILIPPINES - Global Impact's Freedom Philippines Fight Human Trafficking Advocacy Program was once again tapped as a Learning Expert on the topic of Special Public Safety Issue: Human Trafficking by the National Police College for another batch of 50 high-ranking public security officers from the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and the Bureau of Fire Protection. This was the 4th batch of executive officers trained by Global Impact.
