April 2025

Welcome to the April 2025 edition of @ CKO.

It’s been a full month—between getting ready for the upcoming elections and rolling out some important updates from our March Council meeting, there’s lots to catch you up on. We’re excited to share what we’ve been working on!

New Practice Guideline

Patient/Client-Centred Care

The Practice Guideline was approved at the March Council meeting and helps kinesiologist understand the principles of patient/client-centred care and provide examples.

Review the full guideline here

Patient/Client-Centred care helps patients and clients participate in and make decisions about the treatment they receive based on their goals, needs and values.

We invite you to take a moment to review the new Practice Guideline and encourage you to reach out to Brian Fehst, Manager of Professional Practice, if you have any questions.

Public Consultation for By-law 19 - Fees

Council has approved proposed amendments to By-law 19 - Fees to be released for public consultation.

The College occasionally receives requests to waive or reduce membership fees due to extenuating circumstances. Under the current By-law 19, only application fees can be waived or reduced - not for renewal, registration, or late payment fees. A proposed amendment to By-law 19 would give the College the ability to consider and approve requests for fee waivers or reductions on a case-by-case basis.

The College will be hosting online town halls to discuss the consultation on:

May 12, 12pm - 1pm

May 14, 6:30pm - 7:30pm

May 16, 9:30am - 10:30am
