June 2025

June is Pride Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the diversity and contributions of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

At COKO, we value inclusivity and respect in both the profession and the care kinesiologists provide. As kinesiologists continue to support the health and well-being of Ontarians, we recognize the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels respected, valued, and seen.

2025 Annual Renewal

To continue practising, Kinesiologists registered in the General and Inactive Class must renew their registration between July 1 and August 31, 2025.

Renewing on time helps ensure uninterrupted service to your clients whilst upholding excellence in kinesiology and your continued commitment to safe, ethical care. To avoid late fees and service interruptions, renew your registration before August 31, 2025.

Help revise COKO's Essential Competencies

COKO is reviewing and updating its Essential Competencies to ensure they continue to reflect the evolving scope of kinesiology practice in Ontario. This process may lead to an expanded or refined list of competencies and updated performance indicators that clearly define the level of expected performance and how competencies are demonstrated in competent, ethical practice.

To help ensure that the Essential Competencies reflect the knowledge, skill, and judgment required for safe, effective, and ethical kinesiology practice, we are seeking 8–12 registered kinesiologists who have a minimum of three years of experience as a kinesiologist to participate in a competency and item writing session.

District 7 Council Election: Cast Your Vote

Council guides COKO and ensures it fulfills its legislated mandate by setting the College’s strategic and policy direction and making decisions that protect the public interest.

From July 1 to 8, kinesiologists in District 7 will vote to elect one Council member. If you live or work in District 7, you will receive an email on July 1 with instruction to vote.

Make your voice count—cast your vote and help shape the future of the profession and uphold public protection in kinesiology practice!

Join a COKO Committee: Support Kinesiology Regulation

Are you interested in Council service and eager to develop and strengthen governance skills? Do you want to gain valuable experience in decision-making, policy development, and collaborative leadership? Serving on a COKO Committee is a great opportunity to contribute to public protection and help regulate and shape the kinesiology practice in Ontario.

COKO is currently seeking applications from kinesiologists who are interested in joining one or more of its Committee(s).

2025 Fall Entry-to-Practice Exam

The next Entry-to-Practice Exam will be held on Sept. 10, 2025.

  • If you are an applicant who graduated from a kinesiology degree at an Ontario university and are planning to write the fall exam, today (June 27) is the final deadline to submit your required documents to COKO.
  • For all other applicants, COKO must have received all required documents by June 10.

The exam booking window will be open from August 24 to 27, 2025.

Educational Equivalency Project – Proposals due July 5

COKO is reviewing its Educational Equivalency Evaluation Framework and is seeking proposals to support this work. The framework is used to assess and evaluate the extent to which an applicant's education may be substantially equivalent to a four-year degree in Kinesiology at an Ontario University.

Help us spread the word--share this opportunity with your partners, colleagues, peers, or anyone who may be interested to kinesiology regulation!

Providing Care Outdoors: Keep you and Your Patients Safe

With the warmer weather, kinesiologists may find themselves delivering care and services outdoors. It is important to remain mindful of potential risks to patients/clients in outdoor settings, including exposure to vector-borne diseases. Public Health Ontario published a few resources to help ensure health professionals provide safe and effective care in outdoor settings.

COKO Joined Thousands at UHN Foundation's We Walk UHNited Event

On May 31, 2025, COKO proudly participated in the We Walk UHNited event hosted by the University Health Network (UHN) Foundation.

COKO had the privilege of engaging with hundreds of participants. Many attendees were curious to learn more about kinesiology, the scope of practice of registered kinesiologists, and how COKO plays a critical role in regulating the profession and protecting the public.
