True freedom begins with surrender.
We cannot walk in freedom without first surrendering our will and heart to the Savior. But when we lay it all down before Him, we discover what it truly means to be free. Jesus reminds us in Galatians 5:13 that we were called to freedom—not to live for ourselves, but to serve one another humbly in love.
So, as we celebrate Juneteenth, let’s also celebrate the freedom Jesus died to give us. Let’s live it out. Let’s walk in it. Let’s walk in freedom—boldly, joyfully, and intentionally—serving God first, and loving others well.
“For you, my brothers, were called to freedom; only do not let your freedom become an opportunity for the sinful nature... but through love serve and seek the best for one another.”
