Project Spotlights

The Central Coast Resilience Hubs Toolkit is Available!

We are excited to announce the launch of Central Coast Community Resilience Hubs Toolkit! This Toolkit is designed to help local leaders and organizations take practical steps towards creating Community Resilience Hubs.

The Toolkit offers an introduction to Community Resilience Hubs, step-by-step guidance organized into five Modules, a library of helpful materials and Central Coast-specific resources, and opportunities to receive no-cost technical support. The guidance provided aims to support the planning and development of Community Resilience Hubs that reflect the unique strengths and needs of the communities they intend to serve. The Central Coast Climate Collaborative developed this toolkit in recognition of the valuable role of Community Resilience Hubs in the face of more frequent and severe heat waves, flood events, wildfires, and other climate change disasters.

City of Guadalupe Seeking Community Input on Climate Action Plan

The City of Guadalupe is creating its first Climate Action Plan, a roadmap to make Guadalupe healthier, more resilient, and better prepared for the future. From cleaner air to safer water, from improving transportation to protecting our natural lands, this plan will outline actions the City can take to address climate change while improving everyday life for residents.

We need your input! By completing the short survey (English and Spanish available), you can help shape the priorities and solutions that work best for Guadalupe residents.

Input can be shared via this survey:

Celebrating our Progress

Community Garden Grand Opening Blooms with Joy

Under the warm summer sun, the heart of Lompoc came alive as neighbors, families, and friends gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the Collective Cultures Creating Change Community Resiliency Garden. What was once an empty space is now bursting with ready-to-harvest garden beds and lush pollinator plants alive with the gentle hum of bees and butterflies.

The air was filled with excitement — and the fragrance of blooming flowers — as attendees explored the vibrant garden pathways. Children played nearby while adults admired the bounty of the garden. Route 1 Produce generously distributed fresh, locally grown produce to community members, embodying the spirit of giving and food security that this garden was built upon. Participants gathered around vermicomposting demonstrations and built their own garden beds, gaining tools to start their own sustainable food gardens at home. This grand opening was more than a celebration, it was a declaration of what’s possible when a community comes together in the name of resilience, culture, and care for Earth.

Dune Center brings Environmental Education to Kids

The Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center is proud to celebrate bringing environmental education to hundreds of local students. Through the Guadalupe-Lompoc Initiative, the Dunes Center has expanded its climate change curriculum in Guadalupe schools, inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards. Students don’t just learn about ecosystems—they build their own through hands-on diorama activities, sparking curiosity and creativity along the way.
