Our Learn-2-Grow (L2G) program will be the focus of our second celebration to share with you. As mentioned last issue, we want to share with you the amazing year Fit-2-Serve (F2S) experienced. We are celebrating each Community Bridges Program by the numbers! Here they are for Learn-2-Grow (L2G):

The very first L2G programs began when Bill Duey began volunteering for his wife, Rachel's kindergarten class. Though the program was not technically a Community Bridges Program at the time, it became evident that this was the perfect introduction into 'service learning' for our youth. This was perfect timing (His Timing) as COVID restrictions brought the Generation-2-Generation program to a halt. Third graders and kindergarten students had been bused to one of our then seven senior living facilities. Needing to adjust, Learn-2-Grow was the perfect answer to engaging the kindergarten students.

Without community volunteers, F2S could not provide Community Bridges Programming to our students at Williams or Riddle Elementary Schools. Without the support of our school administrators and teachers, we would not be in the classrooms. We are blessed to have committed businesses and organizations who send staff to volunteer for Community Bridges Programming.

In April, students were challenged to create their own 'community garden' as a class project. When the F2S team returned to the school for May programming, we were greeted with ALL the classroom 'gardens' posted in the kindergarten hallways! What a joy-filled, blessed way to wrap up the year!
