Salute to Education highlights outstanding achievements in education by teachers and students in the surrounding school districts. Awards for the Students and Teachers will be presented by The Chamber of Commerce and representatives of Congressional, State, County and City Leaders.

Help us celebrate these deserving teachers & students by donating to our scholarship and teacher appreciations funds.

Student opportunities for career awareness and learning – is a joint project of Tri City Medical Center with several chamber and business organizations in the region. Our goal is to expose students and career explorers to occupations that they may not be familiar with – steering them toward educational resources and awareness of employers like you. Companies participate by helping offset the cost of video production and web site hosting, with SOCAL driving student awareness through significant marketing investments.

Understanding how to get a small business loan is essential for business owner at all stages of growth. However, finding business funding can be a daunting task if you’re new to the world of business financing. That’s why we have invited a financial expert to walk you through the basics of how to get a small business loan.

As May is Small Business Month it's a great time to take advantage of free resources for your business. SBDC offers on-demand training, advisors, a variety of workshops and webinars for all business owners. From social media to taxes they have something for everyone.

While you should stay away from venomous snakes, you are more likely to die from a lightning strike than from a snakebite. Of the 7,000 to 8,000 people in the United States bitten annually by venomous snakes approximately five die, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The demands of the world have changed—provide your employees with skilled training to meet your needs.

Now’s the time to upskill your employees with hands-on technical training to capitalize on your current workforce. Avoid high acquisition costs of hiring new employees by investing in and upskilling your current staff. We have courses that focus on technical skills, field knowledge, as well as career readiness—it's everything you need!

Applications are being accepted for the Community Enhancement ARPA Augmentation Grant and Neighborhood Reinvestment Program. In addition, the County Board of Supervisors allocated over $25 million dollars for small business and non-profits that have been impacted by covid-19 (less than 20 employees). While there is no deadline to apply, there is limited funding so those interested are encouraged to apply in the coming months.

CUT COSTS ON YOUR SUMMER ENERGY BILL

Summer rates go into effect June 1 and when the weather heats up, your energy use will likely rise, too. Here are some helpful tips and tools to help you conserve energy this summer and become a power pro!

1. Shift your use: When possible, use large heat-generating appliances such as washers, dryers and dishwashers outside of the on-peak hours of 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. – when energy rates are the highest.

2. Get bill alerts: Energy Alerts are an easy way to monitor your energy use and bill before it arrives. Get weekly energy use alerts or customize your notifications for when your bill reaches a dollar amount that you set.

3. Keep your A/C fit: Check your air conditioner’s filter every 1-2 months. Dirty filters cause your system to work harder to keep you cool, wasting energy.



4. Block the heat and hot air: Weatherstrip and caulk drafty doors and windows to keep the cold air in and hot air out.
