Scripps - Debunking 7 Common First Aid Myths
Minor injuries and illnesses are usually treated at home, often with the help of a well-stocked first-aid kit and knowing what to do. The best outcomes come from using proven first aid methods.

Chandini Rathee, MD, a family medicine physician at Scripps Coastal Medical Center Encinitas cautions that many home remedies handed down through generations are not proven or effective and, in many cases, not even safe.

“Understanding the difference between first-aid myths and proven first aid treatments helps reduce the risk of causing more harm than good,” Dr. Rathee says. “It’s always best to know what to do in a specific situation and what not to do.”

You may benefit by taking a first-aid course and learning the science behind the training.

Read the following article to find out what the seven common first-aid myths and what you should do instead.

That means removing as much carbon from the atmosphere as the state produces. In the San Diego and southern Orange County region, SDG&E and many local cities also embrace carbon neutrality as their goal.

To stimulate community engagement and economywide collaboration to achieve our shared climate goals, SDG&E will be releasing an analysis on how to decarbonize the economy while also prioritizing electric grid reliability, affordability and equity. The Path to Net Zero: A Decarbonization Roadmap for California lays out specific recommendations for the state to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045

CSUSM - College of Business Administration
A hallmark of the College of Business Administration for over 25 years, the Senior Experience Program is a requirement for all CSUSM undergraduate business students. Teams of students are matched with projects submitted by a variety of businesses and organizations. Students gain valuable work experience as consultants on rigorous real-world projects while businesses gain concentrated attention from teams of students who provide a fresh, independent perspective. Organizations pay $1,500 to participate in the Senior Experience Program.

Thanks to a generous gift from Lily and Jimmy Thai (MBA, ’00) through their Build a School Foundation, our leadership center, CLIMB, now offers a Compassionate Leadership Experience. The Compassionate Leadership Experience provides nonprofits with limited funds the opportunity to participate in the College of Business Administration’s Senior Experience Program.
Encinitas Chamber of Commerce and Partners - Opportunities for Corporate Involvement: SDNEDC and Partners Launch Student Opportunities for Career Awareness and Learning
One of the biggest challenges holding back North County’s economy is the difficulty many companies face finding and recruiting talent. With unemployment in the region standing at 4.6% and with even more pronounced shortages in fields that require technical proficiencies, it is among the most important issues that SDNEDC will be addressing in 2022.

Part of that effort will center around SOCAL (Student Opportunities for Career Awareness and Learning), a collaborative project between Tri-City Medical Center, SDNEDC, and 6 chambers (Encinitas, Vista, Oceanside, Carlsbad, San Marcos & Escondido). The goal of SOCAL is to raise awareness among young adults about different careers they might not know about and provide some of the resources and educational pathways that can help them pursue the opportunities.

The first phase is a searchable website with short video interviews from a variety of workers. We encourage you to take some time and explore the site and watch some of the videos.

Should your company be interested in participating as we build out the library, please contact admin@encinitaschamber.com. We have attractive sponsorship packages that will produce three videos of different team members and then elevate the visibility of various job postings and opportunities at your firm. The goal of SOCAL is to have 100 different North County workers highlighted by the end of the year.
