Student opportunities for career awareness and learning – is a joint project of Tri City Medical Center with several chamber and business organizations in the region. Our goal is to expose students and career explorers to occupations that they may not be familiar with – steering them toward educational resources and awareness of employers like you. Companies participate by helping offset the cost of video production and web site hosting, with SOCAL driving student awareness through significant marketing investments.

By collaborating as neighbors and addressing these issues, we can foster greater empathy and understanding, leading to solutions that promote economic development in underserved areas and reduce racism.

The Internal Revenue Service offered a lifeboat of sorts Tuesday to California residents and businesses floundering in the atmospheric river: More time to pay their income taxes.

The agency announced that taxpayers in any county covered by a federal emergency declaration would have until October 15 to file their income tax returns for 2022. So far, 31 of the state's 58 counties are in that group, including Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego and Ventura counties; if the declaration is extended to more counties, the IRS will grant them the extra time as well.

Applications are being accepted for the Community Enhancement ARPA Augmentation Grant and Neighborhood Reinvestment Program. In addition, the County Board of Supervisors allocated over $25 million dollars for small business and non-profits that have been impacted by covid-19 (less than 20 employees). While there is no deadline to apply, there is limited funding so those interested are encouraged to apply in the coming months.

ENERGY SAVINGS FOR RENTERS AND HOMEOWNERS  

To help its customers keep their energy costs down, SDG&E launched a new program for renters and owners of single-family homes. The Residential Energy Solutions (RES) program has no income restrictions. Eligible customers receive free products such as smart thermostats, low-flow showerheads, brushless fan motors, HVAC services like air duct testing and sealing – and more.
