City Council to Meet March 12


The City Council will meet on Tuesday, March 12, at 5:30 pm. The meeting will take place in the Council Chambers located at the Vista Civic Center, 200 Civic Center Drive. The meeting is open to the public and your participation in person or virtually is welcome. Refer to the agenda link below on how to offer your input on agenda items or to speak on any topic that's not on the agenda.


Consent Calendar Items Include (recommendations on Consent Calendar items are enacted in one motion unless an item is removed from the calendar):

1). First Amendment to the Agreement with West Coast Arborists, Inc. for Street Tree Maintenance Services.

2). Initiation of Proceedings and Declaration of Intention to Form South Melrose Landscape Maintenance District.

3). All-Way Stop at the W. Vista Way and Hill Drive Intersection.

4). Speed Humps on Cantara Lane, Marazon Lane, and Oak Drive.

5). Wave Waterpark Needs Assessment Study Contract Award.

Moonlight's Concert Series Launches March 21-23


The Moonlight Amphitheatre opens its 2024 performance schedule with a weekend of music concerts starting March 21. The weekend lineup includes the following:


  • March 21: Last Child: A Tribute to the Music of Aerosmith
  • March 22: Marshall Charloff & The Purple Xperience: Prince Tribute
  • March 23: The Gin Blossoms


All concerts are at 7:30 pm with tickets ranging in price from $25-$95. Package discounts are available.

Center Hosts Candy Drive


The McClellan Center's Nutrition Council is organizing a candy drive for participants in the Meals on Wheels program. The community is asked to either donate a bag or two of individually wrapped candies or volunteer to assemble goodie bags at the Center on March 20 at 1 pm. For more information, call 760.643.5288.

Children's Shoe Drive for "Shoe the World Day"


March 15 is "Shoe the World Day" and donations of shoes for children will be accepted, which will be distributed to those in need in conjunction with Soroptimists International of Vista and North County Inland. Donations of shoes may be brought to the VisTix/Recreation Office at the Vista Civic Center, 200 Civic Center Drive (nearest parking in the City lot near the intersection of Civic Center and Alta Vista Drives) on Friday, March 15, between noon and 5 pm.

Kids in the Garden Class, March 16


Alta Vista Botanical Gardens hosts its next Kids in the Garden Class on Saturday, March 16 at 10 am. The class will explore "Soil, Composting, and Spring Planting." Admission is $5 per person and includes admission into the gardens until 4:30 pm. The gardens are located within Brengle Terrace Park at 1270 Vale Terrace Drive, Vista.

Vendors Sought for Earth Day Festival


Vendors are being sought by Alta Vista Gardens for its Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 20. This free event welcomes the community to celebrate our planet with fun and activities.
