Enrolling in energy bill discount programs such as CARE can reduce your total monthly bills by 20% or more.
California Alternate Rates for Energy Program (CARE) provides a monthly discount of 35% on electricity and 20% on gas. Eligibility is based on the number of people in your household and your total household income, or if you participate in certain public assistance programs.
You may qualify to receive up to $1,000 per year to cover your late energy bills through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).* Eligibility is based on household size and income. LIHEAP will not ask you for the money back and it does not affect your credit score, it is funded through Federal and State grants. The payment is made directly to your energy provider.
