We have an exciting and busy week coming up!!

The VYC Championship race is at Central Park this Saturday. We will be scoring the teams and awarding the top 3 teams after each race. Please plan to stay a little longer. All athletes will also receive a medal, and the top 3 athletes will get a trophy. The top 8 individuals and top 3 teams will be called up to the awards podium about 20 minutes after each race. When the Coaches talks about having fun, this is it!! Please make sure you stay and cheer all the team on and be ready to take lots of pictures on the podium.

Speaking of that I am looking for a parent with a truck to help me pick up the podium on Friday afternoon and put it together at the park. I will have a truck full of start line stuff. We will meet at our storage and then take it and assemble at the park. Please let me know if you can help.

Post Season- Valley United Striders

As we go into our final meet, many are thinking about the Post Season with Valley United Striders. If you look on the cross country page at the bottom of the page is a "Ranking File" If your athletes has been coming in the top 40 of the races they may want to considerer the all star team. We take the top athletes from all the VYC teams and form A,B and some times C teams to compete in the Junior Olympic competition that could end up at the Jr. Olympics in Knoxville Tennessee. Teams must qualify through a series of races. There will be an additional team fee and travel expenses.

You can visit the valleyunitedstriders.com for more information.

And just like that, it's the last week of the regular season.

There's no magic workout or secret truck that will make you race better this weekend. The truth is, if you've been coming to practice, working hard, sleeping enough, eating enough, taking care of your body, and if you truly want to do great...you're ready!

Over the season, you've built everything you may need:

  • Catch a Guy taught you how to chase, defend, and actually compete in a race
  • Long runs gave you the strength to go the distance.
  • Tempo runs trained your body to run fast for a longer time.
  • Speed workouts helped you push through tired legs and find yourself some faster legs.
  • Hills made you tougher, both physically and mentally.

If you've been practicing with focus and effort, and you want it, then you already have the tools to do great. Now if you haven't been showing up, or if yo've been goofing off, that's on you and we can't fix that in just one week. But no matter where you're at, this week is about getting ready, staying focused, and getting excited to run FAST.

Rest up, fuel up, show up, and believe in yourself cause I do if you put in the work. This Saturday we give it all we have. Let's finish strong!

Coach Jimmy
