Hasin Sadik Karim earned a B.C.A. in Aviation Management from Delta State University in 2021. Currently, he is in a Master of Business Administration program at the University of Prince Edward Island in Canada with an expected graduation date in 2024.
Fun fact about Hasin: As a native of Dhaka, Bangladesh, he speaks Bengali, English, Hindi, and Urdu!

Why did you choose to attend Delta State? I chose DSU because of its affordable tuition and also for its blended business and aviation degree that I pursued later on.
What have you been doing since you graduated from DSU? After graduating from DSU, I went back to Bangladesh and worked for a youth organization in terms of marketing and public relations and also worked for an agency as an IELTS instructor and international admissions officer. I did all this work for a year and then started my MBA at University of Prince Edward Island in the Fall of 2022 and still currently pursuing that.
What's a favorite DSU memory? My favorite memory from DSU would be helping with the representation of international students and their countries during the 2019 DSU Homecoming as one of the head members of the International Student Association. [Hasin was a president of the International Student Association and served in the DSU Student Government Association during his years at DSU.]

Delta State holds Fall Commencement
Delta State University held its Fall 2023 Commencement ceremonies at the Bologna Performing Arts Center on December 8 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. DSU celebrated 149 conferred degrees from the Summer ’23 semester, with 37 bachelor’s degrees, 86 master’s degrees, and 26 educational specialist degrees. Fall 2023 included 308 candidates for degrees, subject to completion of all requirements as certified by the Registrar’s Office, with a total of 180 bachelor’s degrees, 87 master’s degrees, 26 educational specialist degrees, and 15 doctoral degrees.

New International Student Orientation - Spring 2024
Delta State University welcomed new international students from 13 countries during New International Student Orientation from January 11-12. From the first pick-up van shuttle at the Memphis International Airport to multiple Walmart trips to meeting the Fighting Okra, the International Student Services staff acclimated students to campus and the Cleveland community. Thank you to our graduate assistant, Chloe (South Africa), and returning international and American student volunteers for assisting during Orientation. Also, we greatly appreciate campus ministries for sponsoring the orientation breakfast.

Snow Much Fun
Unusual snowy weather blanketed the Mississippi Delta region, including our campus, during the first week of classes. For many international students, this was their first experience in snow. Rest assured, the temperatures have warmed back up!

Delta Delegation honors B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center during annual trip to Caxias do Sul, Brazil
The Delta Delegation to Brazil recently traveled to Caxias do Sul, Brazil to promote Mississippi Delta cultural heritage at the 14th annual Mississippi Delta Blues Festival (MDBF) Brazil, dubbed the B.B. King Museum Edition.

New program at DSU for community college grads with technical degrees
Delta State University now offers a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree with multiple concentrations through the College of Business and Aviation. The BAS degree is designed for individuals with technical degrees from community colleges to transfer technical credit towards a bachelor’s degree. The BAS program allows transfer of 45 hours of technical credits toward the total 121 hours required for degree completion. In addition to technical credits, students can transfer many of their general education courses as well. Required general education courses that were not completed at the student’s community college can be completed at DSU.

Bologna Performing Arts Center to present smash hit musical On Your Feet!
The Bologna Performing Arts Center will present a brand-new production of the smash hit musical On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio & Gloria Estefan. This inspiring true story about heart, heritage and two people who believed in their talent—and each other—has already won the hearts of audiences and critics alike. On Your Feet! will play the Bologna Performing Arts Center on Thursday, January 25 at 7:30 p.m.
