"Doing What It Takes" - March 2015
From Rebelling to Embracing
Frankie, 18, came to Ettie Lee last June. He screamed and argued about all of the rules and discipline. He rebelled against the daily structure offered here at Ettie Lee, and yesterday he went home. He was sent off with some goodies, lots of love and well wishes. Jacci Fuller, Drug and Alcohol Counselor at Ettie Lee says that Frankie came to embrace everything he learned Ettie Lee. "Our hope is that he will remember the seeds that were planted," said Jacci. Frankie lived at Ettie Lee's Robertson Home and participated in Ettie Lee's daily Intensive Outpatient Drug and Alcohol Program. He lived with much needed structure -- learning about the ABC's of substance abuse and attending regular A.A. meetings, regular mealtimes/bedtimes made which allowed him to get back some of his childhood and feel safe and secure. Together the Ettie Lee team were able to check in with him at the beginning and end of each day. At his going away party yesterday, Frankie stated, "I've learned things here that will last me a life time." Jacci responded: "We are counting on it." Frankie's Goodies |
