The academic year is moving along very quickly and we are very excited to share some of what is happening with The Award in Ontario! We have seen an increase in registration this Fall which is amazing and we have just recently had a very successful Silver Award Ceremony graciously hosted by St. Andrew’s College. In addition we had a successful launch for our 9 th Ski for the Duke which was held at the Duke of Devon in Toronto. Both events were well attended and we’re looking forward to our Ski Day in February and more ceremonies in the coming year.

I would like to wish you all the best for this Holiday Season and every success in the coming year.

Regards,

Jeff Needham
Executive Director

DOES YOUR SCHOOL HAVE A SKI TEAM?
CHECK OUT SKI FOR THE DUKE !
Ski for the Duke is a one day, outdoor fundraising event for teams of skiers and snowboarders. Teams gather for a day of on-the-slopes challenges, great food, entertainment, and lots of swag!

Don't know how to ski? No problem - we provide lessons for first time skiers.

  • Form teams of three skiers or snowboarders, come up with a fun team name, and register for Ski for the Duke at www.skifortheduke.com. There is a $60 registration fee per person when signing up (this helps to cover ski lift tickets, breakfast, lunch and après-ski snacks).

  • Together with your team fundraise for the Duke of Ed. There will be prizes for the top fundraising team on the day of the event!

  • Prizes will also be awarded to the top finishers of the Mountain Challenge Scavenger Hunt, and the individual with the fastest Giant Slalom time as well as combined totals for fundraising and Scavenger Hunt finish.

  • Duke of Ed participants can count their hours at Ski for the Duke towards their Physical Recreation component of their Award as well as any time spent fundraising towards the Community Service component.
