Stop the Bleed Training for Kings Staff
|
|
Kings Staff members trained to save lives.
The Homeland Security Department’s
Stop the Bleed
initiative aims to turn bystanders into rescuers—giving them the training to save lives.
Medical personnel from UC Health and Deerfield Township led
Stop the Bleed
training for the staff at each of our school buildings this week. Our staff learned how to apply pressure to a wound, pack a wound, and (if possible) apply a tourniquet. They also learned the ABC's of Bleeding Control.
- A- Alert- Call 911
- B- Bleeding- find the bleeding injury
- C- Compress- apply pressure to stop the bleeding
According to Kings Director of Business Affairs, Matt Luecke, the District will be installing bleeding control kits this summer in all of our buildings. The kits will be located in the same location as our Automatic Electronic Defibrillators (AED), which are typically large group spaces near the gym and cafeteria.
The Kings District will continue to look for opportunities to keep our students and staff safe!

Grant Defrays Cost of Safety Training
|
|
The Kings Local School District was awarded a grant for the 2018-2019 school year that allowed for some of our district staff members to become Safety Care trainers that supports students in behavior crisis.
Intervention Specialists, Caitlin Smith (CIS), Cassidy Wodke (SLE), Tina King (KME), and Lissa Parker (JFB) attended the official Safety Care training in October. Over the past two weeks, these Certified District Safety Care Trainers were able to train our staff intervention specialists.
During the training, the staff learned de-escalation strategies and their positive feedback noted that they believe that the strategies will benefit all students. In addition to the training, Special Education Director, Dana Martin and Special Education Supervisor, Lorraine Hartke were asked to present at the Ohio Safety Congress Conference regarding their experience with the grant writing process through the Ohio Department of Bureau of Worker Compensation.
The District has plans to continue training all necessary employees with Safety Care which includes intervention specialists, counselors, paraprofessionals, and administrators.
