UWGUC modernizes its comprehensive organizational approach to ensure access to programs and services for Union County residents |

As part of our on-going transformation to continue providing programs and services, we have modernized our comprehensive approach to our family strengthening model. Collaborating within our community resources network and affiliated initiatives, we are currently providing a series of virtual webinars that will provide families and individuals with continued access to services, leadership and career focused initiatives, and ways they can advocate in their communities.
Building Resiliency Empowering Parents, Families and Individuals, the themed focus, serves to provide continued support to residents who are facing educational, health and economic barriers, and ensures services are provided in both the traditional and virtual (online) setting. Read more

In September, Women United hosted its second Women at the Table breakfast webinar: Retooling Your Career when Working Hard is Hardly Working; and in October, the African American Leadership Initiative hosted its first webinar on Managing Stress.

Hosted by Women United's Women at the Table, the latest virtual workshop, Retooling Your Career was presented, Liz Nolley Tillman (left) who provided actionable strategies guests were able to use to practice self advocacy, assembling the right team around them and identifying their purpose. Women United consists of women philanthropists dedicated to improving maternal and child health conditions. |

A first for the African American Leadership Initiative (AALI), the Managing Stress webinar was presented by La-Kisa Hines (right), Community Outreach Territory Manager/Certified Health Educator at UnitedHealthcare Community Plan. La-Kisa provided engaging techniques on how to recognize stress in your body, ways to manage stress and more. AALI consists of a network of thought leadership philanthropic volunteers who help create awareness and support that help solve educational, social and financial issues unique to the African American community in Union County.

Virtual Stuff the Bus serves 400 students |
|
For the first time, during the summer, we hosted a Virtual Stuff the Bus Campaign and thanks to the generous support from the community, we were able to provide over 400 students in grades Pre-kindergarten through eighth with ready-to-learn backpacks filled with school supplies! |
|
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, United Way of Greater Union County was unable to conduct the annual campaign traditionally. However, because of the outpouring of support from individual and our corporate donors, the online campaign proved to be just as successful as it was in previous years.
Right: Amazon Logistics provided 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to 10 nonprofit agencies in Union County and awarded an additional $2500 to support ready-made backpacks!
