First Beacon of the new School Year! The Beacon is our weekly newsletter that will keep you up to date on all important information. The Beacon will be sent home each week on Thursdays via the youngest student in your family at South Olive (K-8th). There will often be attachments that go along with announcements in the newsletter. You will also receive the Beacon via email.

Concessions Fridays @ Lunch! Gatorade, Candy Bars & Cookies!!! Prices range from $.50 up to $1.50. Send your loose change with your students! The Parent sign-up board has been moved! Due to needing to limit parents in and out of the building the sign up board is now outside the main lobby doors. Please check it out and sign up for up-coming things like: Soft Ball Drivers, Concession Sellers at games, Cutting and Rolling Pigs (this helps us Coordinate who will be here when) and coming soon food donations for the Auction. This is a small way that EVERYONE can help out and make a BIG difference!

Pizza Fridays! Our first pizza hot lunch is Friday, September 18th. Little Caesar's pizza for only $1.50 per slice.Please see the attached order slips for further details.

Maintenance Support South Olive Christian School could use your expertise! We have some maintenance tasks that take 5-10 hours per week at most. This would be a volunteer position, working with our janitorial staff and office staff to keep up with things like: paint touch-ups, replacing light switches, fixing cupboards and other "handyman" tasks. We have excellent resources in our board members, who can direct and help with maintenance and repairs, but who would welcome another set of hands on a regular basis to keep things working in the school. Substitute Teachers Wanted! South Olive Christian School is in need of more substitute teachers. If you are interested, let the office know!

Auction Time!!! (Rescheduled from the Spring) Our 49th annual auction will be Saturday, September 26th. 4:00: Pig Roast & Silent Auction Begins 5:00: Live Auction Begins Dinner & live auction will be held outdoors. Silent auction held in the gym with traffic being properly controlled.  Have something to donate? Have you turned in your pink donation forms to the office? Please do so ASAP. We appreciate your help! We hope to see you there and be sure to bring some friends!

Pigs in a Blanket  Come and get 'em! The price is $12/dozen. Spread the word with this flyer! SOCS families, join our closed Facebook group (Pig Crew @SOCS) to stay in touch about volunteering (which earns you tuition credit!). Our Pigs in a Blanket have been flying out of the freezers.Our next pig date is on September 14th. Please stay tuned to the Facebook group for further information and sign ups. Thanks! We appreciate everyone's help!

Helping Hands  "Many hands make light work..." How can you get involved SOCS Helping Hands? Attend our meeting on September 22nd @ 7 pm. All parents are invited to attend to discuss projects for this year. We'll pray, have a treat and look at what God has in store for SOCS in the 2020-21 school year. School Shirts Please see the attached form to this weeks Beacon. We will be starting the process of collecting sizes for each student. Shirts will be worn for field trips and special events throughout the school year.

Thank you for continuing to save your Direct Your Dollar (Spartan) receipts and Our Family labels. Drop them off on Fridays in the office. We'll also take your Box Tops for Education or you can scan your receipts when you purchase marked items using their app)!

THANKS to all who have brought in their cans and bottles! We have raised over $500 dollars over the last few months (and we still have cans yet to return). What a blessing! If you have pop cans & bottles piling up, you can bring them to us! We will sort them, store them and take them in to fund our athletics and Helping Hands projects! Drop them off any Friday or let us know when you can come drop them off.
