El-Shaddai Dairies Inc and Gagelmans Farms Ltd.

Dieter and Miriam

El-Shaddai Dairies Inc. originally opened shop in 1927 and was owned by Geoff Volkman. In recent years Dieter and Miriam Gagelmans started to manage the Dairy barn and in approximately 2022/23 the Gagelmans took over sole management of the Dairy. His wife and himself are now working towards becoming the farm's new owner and integrating the farm into there own.

The Farm has made some changes in the last few years with implementing cover cropping that is silaged for forage for the Dairy cows. These areas that are planted in a cover cropping blend are also grazed with rotational grazing practices when seasons and plant growth allow.

Rotational grazing is also practiced around the entire farm and a simple but effective electric fence is moved by the Gagelmans. This allows for the farm's young stock and dry cows to be out and grazing the land that the Farm runs on. The rotational grazing practiced by El-Shaddai Dairies Inc. allows for approximately 50,000 lbs on the hoof or about 5000 lbs/acre in relation to stocking density.

The silaging and rotational grazing has been beneficial for El-Shaddai Dairies Inc. as the increased portion of forage in the Dairy cattle's diet has allowed for increased milk production and also better overall health. Most Dairy barns run by “quota” and typically quota is measured by kg of butterfat produced, the quality of milk has to be of highest standard. These practices are allowing quota to be met easier and more economical!

El-Shaddai Dairies/Gagelmans Farms Ltd. also utilizes other agricultural tech products. All for the main purpose, better care for the cattle and also better utilization of the land!
