GET INVOLVED!

God's Timing is Always Perfect!

"And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." (2 Corinthians 9:8)

Thank you, Sondra!

As we continue to celebrate Christmas and the hope of newness that was promised through the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ, we look forward to a new year and the joy that comes with it. Living Stones is living into the promise of newness and hope as we say farewell to our amazing Volunteer Coordinator, Sondra Furedy, and welcome Holly Lefever in her place.

Sondra’s love and passion for Living Stones and our neighbors began in 2015, when she first started volunteering with us. She was a natural leader, learning the roles of the kitchen and soon taking lead in that space before quickly leading the entire Baldwin location. As Living Stones grew and we began serving at more locations and offering new services, it became clear that we needed someone to identify all of the tasks involved and then coordinate which volunteers would complete them.

Once again, Living Stones is a testament to God’s perfect timing: just when we were considering the part-time position of Volunteer Coordinator, Sondra was ready to retire from her previous job and was eager to accept this new position. She became the first employee of Living Stones in 2020! One of Sondra’s many abilities is discerning the gifts and talents of others, which has been a blessing to Living Stones as she’s beautifully coordinated where the talents of our volunteers are best utilized. In every project, Sondra is joyfully organizing and leading. Her love and passion for Living Stones is contagious and has led to the cultivation of many partnerships and eager volunteers. If you’ve ever received an email from Sondra coordinating the volunteers at our serving locations, you’ve undoubtedly read, “Everyone has a role, but we all pitch in.” She means it and is always one of the first to pitch in wherever she is.

When asked to reflect on herself and her time at Living Stones, Sondra didn’t talk about herself: she could only talk about her love and adoration for the volunteers and our neighbors. As she says, “I see the face of Jesus in our neighbors, and His hands in our volunteers.” Last year, Sondra’s house burned down, and through that devastation, her love and praise for the hearts of everyone at Living Stones grew even stronger. With just one email, volunteers and neighbors alike rallied around Sondra and offered anything they could to help her through the tragedy. Sondra is loved and will be deeply missed, and, just as she says she sees Jesus in our volunteers and neighbors, we see the love of Jesus in her. We pray Sondra forward as she begins the next chapter in her life!

Welcome, Holly!

We didn’t know how we could ever replace Sondra when she told us she would be moving out of state, but God had already graciously positioned our next Volunteer Coordinator right in our midst. With cheerful hearts, we welcome Holly Lefever to this role! Many of you may already know Holly, as she has been volunteering with Living Stones for the past five years, serving faithfully as a lead in several kitchens.

Holly has a long history in customer service, church administration, and hospitality. She worked for 11 years in Human Resources in retail and promoted customer service. She later worked for Beverly Heights Presbyterian Church, where she spent six years in church administration and hospitality events planning. She has a heart for the kitchen, and, specifically, a passion for meal ministry. For the last five years, Holly has worked in administration for a private insurance company, but again, as God would have it, she felt a deep calling back to ministry work just as we were looking for a replacement for Sondra.

Holly has all the skillsets to succeed and help lead Living Stones into the future. She loves planning large meals and is organized and detail-oriented. Holly has been excited to learn the many responsibilities that come with this important job. She feels that God has called her to this role and has eagerly accepted that calling. With a deep love for Living Stones and its ministry, we are certain that Holly will transition smoothly into this new role. While we are sad to say goodbye to Sondra, we are thrilled to have Holly join in the leadership of Living Stones. Welcome, Holly!

As we enter this new year, we are excited to witness the work God will continue to do within Living Stones and among our neighbors. In His promise of goodness, we are looking forward to a new year filled with newness and hope!

Living Stones fosters the cultivation of relationships with neighbors who join us for meals. As relationships develop and deepen, Living Stones volunteers come alongside those individuals and families to assist them in navigating the challenges in their lives and encourage them to find hope in Christ as they learn to trust Him.
