Hartwood Makes A House A Home
Improving Quality of Life Matters Most
Hartwood January Greetings

With the new year in full swing, we have set new goals for the Hartwood Foundation and we will strive to meet and exceed them. Within the goals of this newsletter, we aim to provide more content and provide a better understanding of our mission within the community and support for our residents.
Your feedback and support are greatly appreciated.
Spotlight on a Hartwood Home,
Southhampton Group Home
Meet one of our residents, Robert D.
How fun we get to meet Robert!
Robert has been with Hartwood at the Long Pine house for over 16 years, since February of 2005. For Robert's health and safety he recently moved to Southampton on 5/15/21.
Robert, his brother William and housemate.
Spotlight: Southampton Group Home
Robert previously resided at Long Pine with his younger brother, William. The brothers moved together to Southampton. Robert has really adjusted to his new home with his new roommates who welcomed both brothers; making their transition to Southampton a smooth one.
Southampton has 4 residents. The residents like listening to Country music, solving puzzles, going out for walks in the neighborhood and just enjoying each others company.
Robert enjoys being outdoors, going for walks, and window shopping. He loves Bingo, game shows - especially Family Feud. He likes bowling and movie nights. Robert enjoys eating good food while dining out.
Virginia legislators went back into session on January 20th and we need your support. Please consider calling to voice your opinion regarding support for the Developmentally Disabled.
The bottom line is that we want our supporters to reach out as soon as possible to their senators and delegates (send emails, leave voice messages, talk to their Legislative Assistants, etc.) on the “money committees” listed below and ask that they support the rate increases identified in the Burns and Associates study for ALL Medicaid Waiver services not just those included in the governor’s proposed budget.

Due to covid concerns, we are rescheduling the live wine tasting event.
Please take Friday, February 11, 2022 off the calendar.
Thanks to all of you who participated in the terrific virtual events in 2021. We are keeping our fingers crossed that we will be able to put a Spring event on the calendar in April 2022. Stay tuned!
