Harvest Time!

Fall (autumn) is the time of year when we “reap what we sow.” And our students in the Adult Education programs reap the benefits of gathering knowledge from their ESL and ABE/GED classes offered at Chesapeake College throughout the year. What seeds are you thinking of sowing to reach your goals? Our Student Support Team is waiting to assist you with planting those goals by offering academic/ESL classes, career pathways, and many other choices on how to earn your high school diploma. Jump on our harvest wagon and “reap what you sow” this 2022-2023 school year!

Winter classes begin in January2023!

ZOOM CLASS ETIQUETTE

We define virtual classroom etiquette, or netiquette, as what we expect from you in our online classes. The way you should interact with your teacher and classmates.

Here are a few reminders:

  • You should have your audio on mute so that the noises in your environment do not interfere with the class. Every time you want to participate, or when your teacher asks you a question, you can unmute yourself.
  • Try to find a relaxing and comfortable place for your classes. This is your moment of the week to learn and work with your teachers and classmates.
  • We always recommend working with your camera ON. Interaction is accomplished more easily when we can all see one another.
  •  If your teacher or a classmate is speaking, and you need to interrupt or ask a question, you can write it on the CHAT box, or RAISE your HAND on the reactions box.
  •  Please, text your teacher every time you cannot attend a class, or you are going to be late.

You can find further information on classroom etiquette in these videos:

Brain Game

Brain Game: Math Mystery

Grab your calculator and try this math puzzle. Then share it with your friends!

1.    Write down any 3-digit number (the number cannot begin with 0).

Write that number down again, so it is a 6-digit number. For example, if you chose

123, they your new number would be: 123123.

2.    Divide the 6-digit number by 7. (Don’t worry about the remainder; there won’t be a

       remainder.)

3.    Next, divide the answer by 11. (Don’t worry about the remainder; there won’t

       be  one.)

4.    Next, divide the answer by 13 (Again, don’t worry about the remainder; there

       won’t  be one.)

Do you recognize the number?
