Pitch Your Business

to Potential Clients

— with Confidence


A week ago, we watched WBEC Florida members pitch their businesses on a virtual stage in our annual competition. It reminded us that the skills you develop in these competitions come in handy when you're pitching your business to potential clients or investors as well.


The format is surprisingly similar, though the “ask” at the end might shift depending on the situation.


Here’s a simple framework to keep in your back pocket:


  1. Start with the problem. Instead of diving straight into what you do, start by naming the challenge your potential customer faces. This shows you understand their world and immediately positions your business as relevant.
  2. Introduce your solution. Once you’ve outlined the problem, introduce your product or service as the answer. Keep it clear and concise. The goal isn’t to share every detail — it’s to spark curiosity and interest.
  3. Highlight the value. People don’t just buy products; they buy results. Share the benefit your solution brings — saving time, increasing revenue, improving efficiency, reducing stress, creating opportunities. Help your audience picture the transformation they’ll experience.
  4. Explain what sets you apart. Plenty of businesses may solve a similar problem. What makes yours different? Maybe it’s your unique approach, your track record, your values, or the personal touch you bring.
  5. Close with a call to action. It could be as simple as, “Let’s schedule a quick call,” or “Would you like a demo?” The key is to be specific and actionable so your listener knows exactly what to do next.


Remember: A strong pitch isn’t a script — it’s a conversation starter. Keep it authentic, practice so it feels natural, and always tailor it to the person in front of you. That way, whether you’re on a stage or in a coffee shop, you’ll be ready to pitch with confidence.
