~A Word from Our Tech Education Director~
FEBRUARY IS BLACK
HISTORY MONTH

As we wrap up Black History month, I'd like to focus on how we as educators can extend BHM beyond February and into our lesson plans and discussions throughout the year. This month I've offered tech-based resources for students and teachers. Today we're using technology as a forum to compile some not-so-high-tech resources to keep up the learning and awareness year-round. As a former high-school English teacher, I find myself gravitating to the thousands of books (and thousands of book recommendations) available to us to keep learning and understanding. I encourage you to put some of these on your own reading lists, consider some to recommend to students, and some to assign to classes and reading groups. Here are several to consider:

"Black history isn’t a separate history. This is all of our history, this is American history, and we need to understand that.” – Karyn Parsons

And one final, personal recommendation - if you're not using StoryGraph to keep track of what you're reading and want to read, now is the time to start! StoryGraph has a wealth of areas you can choose to keep track of, meaning excellent data and reading stats. I use this app every day.

MSU Invites Public to...
SEND A MESSAGE TO THE MOON

The Bobcats are going to the moon! Or at least their computer is. Through over a decade of research, MSU has created a new type of space computer that can operate in the harsh radiation environment of space while performing faster than existing space computers. It is called RadPC. NASA has selected RadPC to go to the Moon on an unmanned mission to really test it out. We put some extra memory on our computer to give you the opportunity to send a message along for the ride!

Deadline: March 11, 2022
