AMHSA Updates

Registration is now open for our latest free safety webinar

Spring and summer is nearly here, and with it, the hiring of seasonal workers for many municipalities. Does your hiring/onboarding incorporate strategies to mitigate workers at risk for injury/illness?

Unfortunately, Alberta injury/illness data continues to show concerning trends in young and vulnerable workers who are often highly represented in seasonally hired workforces.

Join us and Government of Alberta guest speaker Dave Wojcicki for an interactive 45-minute webinar where we talk about these trends and resources available to support you.

You'll learn to:

📈 Understand current trends relevant to young and vulnerable workers.

⚠ Identify workplace hazards faced by seasonal workers and outline effective approaches to eliminate and control them.

🧠 Apply knowledge to enhance safety practices to eliminate or control hazards faced by seasonal workers.

📝 Locate and use key resources to support the onboarding and protection of seasonal workers.

There will also be a 15-minute Q&A so you can ask your questions!

Contribute to the next steps in making trenching and excavation work safer for all

In October 2025, we held our first interactive workshop for "Enhancing Safe Work Practices in Trenching & Excavation." Bringing together field experts, we gathered valuable input on several areas with the goal of making this challenging, potentially hazardous work safer for all.

As a continuation, we are opening registration for a second workshop in collaboration with the University of Alberta, facilitated by Dr. Lianne Lefsrud, P.Eng. in Fort McMurray.

Working in groups, you will use your expertise to review bowtie models, consider scenarios and start work checks, and refine and validate various materials.

Together, we can make these jobs safer, smarter, and more responsive.
