College of Nursing and Health Professions Dean Search

Dr. Christopher Coleman

Christopher Lance Coleman, PhD, MS, MPH, FAAN, PMHCNS-BC, is the Mark and Maureen Miller Head and Professor at Purdue University School of Nursing. He has mentored faculty, undergraduate, masters and doctoral students, and he is the recipient of mentorship and teaching awards. Most recently, he completed a year-long leadership fellowship with the Society of Behavioral Medicine.

 

He received his bachelor's degree from Walla Walla University in 1986 and his master's in family and child psychiatry from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1991. Coleman received his doctorate with a minor in education from the University of California, San Francisco in 1996, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1998 where his area of concentration focused on the quantitative measurement of health-related quality of life in persons living with AIDS. Additionally, he earned a master's degree in public health from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health in 2004 where he focused on the epidemiology of infectious diseases. In 2007, Coleman was elected to the American Academy of Nursing for his outstanding scientific contributions.

Dr. Jennifer Embree


Jennifer L. Embree, DNP, RN, NE-BC, CCNS, FAAN, is a Clinical Associate Professor at Indiana University School of Nursing at IUPUI. She serves as the Magnet Coordinator and Nursing Research Liaison at Eskenazi Health. Leading the Master’s in Nursing Leadership and Health Systems Track at Indiana University School of Nursing, Embree teaches leadership and informatics in the following programs: DNP Executive Leadership, DNP Population Health and MSN Leadership in Health Systems. Embree is the current president of the Indiana League for Nursing, a past president of the Indiana State Nurses Association, the Indiana Organization for Nursing Leadership and Centerstone of Indiana (the largest mental health company in Indiana). She serves on Centerstone of America’s Research Institute’s (Nashville, Tennessee) Policy and Advocacy Committee and Simulation Committee.


The co-associate editor of the Journal of Continuing Education in “Nursing’s Teaching Tips” column and reviewer for several nursing journals, Embree’s publications and presentations include innovative education, using technology in education, teaching a diverse nursing workforce, civility interventions, nurse lateral violence, personal and professional development, healthy work environment, quality improvement, evidence-based practice and research, business cases, cost-benefit analyses, balanced scorecards and strategy maps, nurse sabbaticals, curriculum and program development and implementation.

Dr. Joseph Beckett


Joseph A. Beckett, EdD, LAT, ATC, has spent 19 years at public institutions and 19 years at private institutions, working and being successful in diverse organizational structures, cultures and leadership styles. His experience covers both work at mid-size public institutions and smaller, private, and public liberal arts institutions. Beckett also has more than 20 years to his name as a Department Chair at three private institutions. For the first 14 years of his career, he served dually as the Head Athletic Trainer and the Athletic Training Program Director or Chair at the University of Charleston and Glenville State College. As a result, he simultaneously developed and implemented new academic programs, clinical, and classroom and contemporary athletic training and clinical services. Beckett has frequently been selected as a manuscript reviewer for journal articles, a textbook reviewer, a symposia proposal reviewer and an online course and home study reviewer on a variety of topics.

Archibald Eagle's Food Closet


A service for all members of the USI community to promote the health and wellness of USI students and employees. Archie's Closet is supported by the cooperative efforts of the Recreation, Fitness, & Wellness Center and campus and community individuals and organizations. All requests for assistance are confidential.


Archie's Closet is located in the RFWC. To use the Closet, please "Ask for Archie" at the front desk. You will be required to show a valid Eagle Access card. There is no fee to use Archie's Closet.  


Archie's Closet stocks non-perishable food products, like peanut butter, canned meats/tuna, pasta, rice, beans, vegetables, soups, and canned fruit, and personal hygiene products such as toilet paper and tissues. The closet is maintained through donations.


Archie's Food Closet is open during regular RFWC building hours.
