10 a.m. (Sanctuary)

Each Sunday we worship in person and online. We are always glad when you worship with us. Nursery care is offered, and activity bags are available at the church entrance to keep little hearts and hands engaged.

Before worship, all youth and adults are invited to sing in our summer choir. After worship, all are invited to Coffee & Conversation in the Parish Hall, and our Usher Interest Meeting in the Sanctuary.

Make a Joyful Noise! Summer Choir Welcomes All

Sundays at 9 a.m. (Sanctuary)

During the summer months, all interested adults and teenagers are invited to sing with the Chancel Choir in worship. We meet at 9 a.m. on Sundays to rehearse before worship, and we hope to fill the chancel seats with a joyful, summer choir! For more information, contact Ann Doyle. 

Hunger Doesn't Take a Vacation

During the summer months, the number of children and families facing hunger or eating poorly increases dramatically, and the SimpleWays food pantry needs your continued and increased support. If you will be on vacation, consider doubling up before you go or on your return. Our donations are delivered weekly to the pantry housed at Definition Church on Merritt Drive.

Most needed food items include rice, pasta, beans (dried and canned), canned vegetables, and canned meats and fish. You can pick up and drop off bags in the Sanctuary narthex and the hallway by the Chapel. Contact Doug Sanecki with questions.

Help Share God’s Love & Cook for Abundant Life’s Community Dinner!

Many neighbors are struggling with grocery prices, and one simple way we can help is by cooking for Abundant Life’s weekly dinners where hospitality, fellowship, and good food abound. St. Andrew’s next turn is Tuesday, August 11, and you’re invited to provide 9x13 pans of protein packed entrees and vegetable sides. Here’s how to help:

• Use a disposable pan, label it with your name and the name of the dish, and freeze it at home.
• All dinner donations need to be in the church’s pantry freezer by Sunday morning, August 9.

Tell Me Something Good: Summer Sermon Series

August 16 through September 6

Our summer preaching series explores the story of God delivering a struggling people from slavery in Egypt. We’ll look at how God heard their cries, broke the chains of slavery, and led them into freedom. Join us August 16 through September 6 as we discover where God is working for good in our own lives today.

Calling All 5th–12th Graders to an Acolyte Interest & Training Meeting

If you’re a rising 5th grader or older, you aren’t just the church of the future, you are an essential part of our church right now! Serving as an acolyte is a great, hands-on way to help lead worship. If you're ready to jump in and get involved, join us for acolyte training on Sunday, August 16, after church. Our parish family extends beyond the church walls, as our clergy visit WhiteStone and Friends Homes West with a monthly Community Eucharist. Services are held at WhiteStone on third Tuesdays at 1 p.m. and at Friends Homes West on third Thursdays at 11 a.m. If you or a loved one are part of one of these communities, we invite you to join us to connect with some familiar faces. 

Interfaith Interest Group Meeting

St. Andrew’s Gun Violence Prevention Group is seeking to form an interfaith community group to expand efforts by people of faith to address this important issue. To get started, we have invited members of other congregations in Greensboro to an interest meeting in the Parish Hall on August 20 at 7 p.m. We will discuss the unique role of people of faith in gun violence prevention, how we can make a difference in reducing gun violence, and potential activities to engage in. Reminder! We Want Your Pre-Loved Puzzles for Deck the Halls

Have a puzzle you love but no longer need? Deck the Halls has an opportunity for you! For each pre-loved puzzle you donate by October 1, you will receive a coupon for $1 off of one that you purchase at Deck the Halls on December 5. Place your puzzle donation in the “Got Puzzles?” bin in the Parish Hall, and take one coupon per donated puzzle (see green coupons in the bin). Coupons are available to St. Andrew’s members and friends. You may earn multiple coupons, but coupons can’t be combined (i.e., you may use one coupon toward each puzzle purchased).

Sabbatical Plans

Beloved in Christ,

This fall, I will be taking a three-month sabbatical. Even though every priest in the Diocese of North Carolina is encouraged to take a sabbatical after 5 to 7 years of service, it will be my first in 22 years of ordained ministry. Our diocesan leadership writes, “Clergy need such times so that they can disengage from their regular tasks and from the stress of being constantly on call, ministering to the sick and dying, and dealing with any number of stressful situations.” Sabbath is built into the fabric of creation as time for reflection, rest, and recreation and Jesus often drew apart to reconnect with God. I am profoundly grateful for this gift. ...
