Camino de Santiago 2027 Interest Meeting
May 31 after Worship (Cloister)
Curious about a spiritual journey unlike any other? Join us for a brief interest meeting on May 31 after worship to discuss a potential pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago in 2027. The Camino de Santiago, or "The Way of St. James," is a historic network of pilgrims' paths stretching across Europe, all leading to the tomb of St. James in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. For over a thousand years, people have walked these trails to find spiritual renewal, clarity, and community. Persons of all ages can complete the Camino. At the meeting, we will talk about the walking, equipment, accommodations, costs, and other matters of interest to potential pilgrims. Craig Taylor will lead the meeting. If you cannot attend but would like more information, please contact him using the link below.

EfM Information Session for 2026-27
May 31 after Worship (Chapel)
Do you consider yourself a lifelong learner? Do you often have a book or two on the go? Do you feel that your questions have actually strengthened your faith?
EfM, or Education for Ministry, is a program of substantive study and reflection, connecting our everyday experience to the Christian tradition, and is offered in two formats. Classic EfM takes you through Old Testament, New Testament, Church History, and Spirituality / Ethics in four years, with commitments one year at a time. EfM Wide Angle is a one-year survey course that requires less preparation and touches on the areas mentioned above. The experience of deep community is a wonderful context for spiritual growth. Prayer and sharing help us walk together in our journey with God.
In our worship on May 31, we will celebrate those who have completed EfM coursework this year. Afterward, we invite all who are curious to the Chapel for an EfM Information Session. Please contact Brenda Swearingin (336-423-6876) or Tricia de Beer (336-457-4524) with any questions. Registration for EfM 2026-27 will take place in early July.

Help Share God’s Love—
Cook for Abundant Life’s Community Dinner!
Tuesday, June 9
(Or Pantry Freezer by June 7)
Many neighbors are struggling with grocery prices, and one simple way we can help is by cooking for Abundant Life’s weekly dinners where hospitality, fellowship, and good food abound. St. Andrew’s next turn is June 9, and we’re inviting you to provide 9x13 pans of protein packed entrees and / or vegetable sides. Here’s how:
- Use a disposable pan (extras are near the pantry freezer), label it with your name and the name of the dish, and freeze it at home.
- All donations need to be in the church's pantry freezer by Sunday morning, June 7 (unless you are delivering it on Tuesday, June 9).
- Please use the buttons below to sign up to cook or to email Barbara Cooke with questions.
Thank you for being part of this ministry of hospitality. Your cooking brings hope and connection to our neighbors!

Help Support the Charlotte Woodward Organ Transplant Anti-Discrimination Bill
A few years ago we asked you to call your members of Congress and ask them to pass the Charlotte Woodward Organ Transplant Anti-Discrimination Bill, and it worked! The bill passed the House, and now in the current Congress has passed the House again and is under consideration in the Senate.
Recently, Martha, Javi, and Rosemary Chaires went to DC to advocate with the National Down Syndrome Society for this bill and other legislation, and we recently learned that they were persuasive enough to convince Senator Budd to sign on as a sponsor of the bill. This means the bill will likely move quickly toward a vote, and if it passes the Senate without markup, it will be signed into law. How can you help to get this important legislation passed? You can do two things!
1. Call Senator Budd’s office and thank him for his support of the bill; and
2. Call Senator Tillis and ask him to support Charlotte’s Bill.
These two actions could help end nationwide discrimination against people based solely on the presence of a disability, a cruel and outdated practice that is still legal—and practiced—in eleven states today. Contact Martha Chaires if you have any questions.

You Can Help Families Facing Eviction
Advocacy Opportunity by June 4
Tenants facing eviction need legal support, and your advocacy before June 4 can help them have access to it. For the last five years, Guilford County has funded the Tenant Eviction Advocacy Mediation (TEAM) Clinic which provides legal support for tenants faced with an eviction. The TEAM Clinic has been the county's most successful tool to combat homelessness and displacement, and last year helped roughly 850 households avoid eviction or get a positive outcome in their eviction case. Funding for TEAM Clinic is not guaranteed, and it is on the agenda for the June 4 Board of Commissioners meeting, when they will hold a public hearing on the proposed Guilford County 2026-27 budget.
If you would like to urge commissioners to continue support of TEAM Clinic and also allocate funding for rental assistance, you can compose a message and send it to all commissioners, care of the Clerk to the Board, Robin Keller. Or you can add your name to a letter from the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC). Links for both options are provided below.
Each year over 16,000 tenants in Guilford County face eviction. These families won’t know you helped in advocating for this support … but you’ll know.
