Each Sunday we worship in person and online. We are always glad when you worship with us. Nursery care is offered, and activity bags are available at the church entrance to keep little hearts and hands engaged, and our preschool through fifth grade friends will have a special tour to get ready for Children's Ministry that is coming very soon!

Our summer sermon series will continue this Sunday, and all are invited to a very special Community Conversation after worship in the Parish Hall.

Our summer preaching series explores the story of God delivering a struggling people from slavery in Egypt. We’ll look at how God heard their cries, broke the chains of slavery, and led them into freedom. Join us as we discover where God is working for good in our own lives today.

It’s Time for a Community Conversation

August 30 after Worship (Parish Hall)

“Beginnings, Endings, and Transitions: North Carolina’s Partnership with Botswana”

Our church family will gather in the Parish Hall after worship this Sunday for coffee hour and a special Community Conversation. Karen and Leon Spencer will speak about the recent ordinations of women in the Diocese of Botswana and about a North Carolina–Botswana retreat reflecting on our companion link and what it means for our theological journeys.

Preschool through Fifth Graders: Join Us for Popsicles on the Playground!

August 30 During Worship

Children's Ministry starts soon, and we couldn't wait one more week to hang out with our favorite St. Andrew's kiddos. So, this Sunday we'll be heading out of church after the collect to check out our learning spaces and learn about Kids of the Kingdom, Godly Play, and some of the cool things we'll be doing inside—and outside!—of the classrooms this year. We’ll end our tour by chilling out with popsicles on the playground, returning to church during the announcements.

Let’s Make This Year's GSO Pride Celebration Extra Sweet

Youth Baking on August 30, 3-5 p.m.

EYC and Jr. EYC don't officially start until September, but let's get together this Sunday to bake rainbow cookies for Greensboro's Pride Parade and Festival September 12. We’ll meet in the Parish Hall kitchen on August 30 at 3 p.m. and bake until around 5 p.m.—but come when you can! All hands are welcome to help. Then mark your calendars for September 12, 12-1 p.m., to help host our booth at the festival and give out our individually packaged cookies.

Flower Guild Interest Meeting

September 1 at 5 p.m. (Library)

Do you love flowers and have a heart for worship? Flower Guild is a ministry designed to enhance worship by bringing the beauty of God's creation into the church. A group of volunteers create flower arrangements for worship or sacred spaces. We are considering beginning a guild for special services at St. Andrew's. We will have a Flower Guild interest meeting in the Library at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, before the Altar Guild meeting that evening at 5:30 p.m. No experience is needed.

Let’s gather for worship and our fall kickoff on September 6. This is always a joyous time to gather as a parish after summer, welcome new friends, and prepare for a fall season full of fellowship, formation, and worship. We will provide hamburgers and hot dogs after worship, and there will be activities for kids. Church tours will be offered, as well as the opportunity to update your Church Member Directory listing. Please bring a dish to share as you are able, according to the first letter of your last name: A–F: Salads; G–M: Desserts; N–Z: Sides & Vegetables.

Help Share God’s Love & Cook for Abundant Life’s Community Dinner!

Drop off by September 6

Many neighbors are struggling with grocery prices, and one simple way we can help is by cooking for Abundant Life’s weekly dinners where hospitality, fellowship, and good food abound. St. Andrew’s next turn is Tuesday, September 8, and you’re invited to provide pans of protein packed entrees and vegetable sides. Here’s how:

• Use a disposable 9x13 pan, label it with your name and the name of the dish, and freeze it at home.
• Place your dinner donation in the church Butler's Pantry freezer by Sunday morning, September 6.
• Be sure to sign up using the link below!

Hello, Women of St. Andrew's! ECW Meetings Resume in September

Are you interested in getting to know more of the women in the church? Do you enjoy learning, outreach, fun, and snacks? Then Episcopal Church Women (ECW) is for you. St. Andrew’s has two ECW Chapters that meet monthly, September through May. Both groups are eager to meet you.

ALL Are Invited to Train with Our Camino Pilgrims

Weekly Walks Begin

September 10 at 5:15 p.m.

The Camino de Santiago is an ancient pilgrimage route across Spain to the shrine of Saint James the Great. For centuries, pilgrims have walked these paths seeking spiritual growth and community. A group of St. Andrew's parishioners and friends will be walking the Camino June 13–24, 2027. As our pilgrims prepare for this journey, we invite you to join us in our training and in prayer for our safety and spiritual enrichment. 

All are welcome to join our training walks for fellowship and exercise, and our first walk is September 10 at 5:15 p.m., beginning at the S. Tremont parking lot (Chapel side). This will be a 4-miler in Sunset Hills, with a break for dinner and fellowship at Sticks & Stones.

We will walk each Thursday in the fall, starting at the same time and place. If you would like to join the pilgrimage, we have room for you! Contact Craig Taylor at the link below to learn more.

St. Andrew’s will be celebrating and supporting our LGBTQ+ siblings at the Greensboro Pride Festival on September 12. We'll be hosting a booth from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to share God’s love and let everyone know they are welcome—fully and joyfully—into the beloved community. Fall Formation Begins for All Ages September 13

Adult Formation for fall begins with “What’s So Amazing About Grace?” We will meet September 13–27 after 10 a.m. Worship. Grab some coffee and a snack and join us!

Children’s Ministry* will also begin the morning of September 13 with our wonderful Godly Play and Kids of the Kingdom offerings. Our nursery is open year-round during 10 a.m. Worship.

Our Youth Offerings*, including a brand-new Jr. EYC (4 p.m.) and beloved EYC (5 p.m.), will have their first meetings of the year on September 13. Get ready for an afternoon full of friends, fun, and deliciousness in Herman Hall, downstairs from the Sanctuary.

Sabbatical Send-Off for Mother Ginny

September 13

Mother Ginny will begin a three-month Sabbatical on September 13. We will worship together on that Sunday, and then look forward to being together again on her return in late December. You can read about Rev. Ginny's sabbatical plans in her letter to the parish at the link below.

Supper Clubs: Let’s Break Bread Together this Fall

Supper Clubs are one of the best ways to get to know fellow parishioners over good food and good company. Each group of 6–8 meets monthly to share a meal and have time to get to know each other outside of our parish life. Some groups meet at restaurants and others in homes, with 3–4 meals over a Supper Club season. We hold signups in September and February, so there's always a fresh chance to join a group and build new friendships. Whether you're new to the parish or have been here for years, Supper Club is a warm, easy way to connect.

Register for a Special Training Opportunity with the Racial Equity Institute (REI)

September 24–25

Hosted and sponsored by members of the Episcopal Community in Greensboro, the Racial Equity Institute (REI) will present Phase I training in a two-day workshop, September 24–25 (9 a.m.—5 p.m.), at Holy Trinity Church, 907 N. Greene St. All are invited to join as we take a deep dive into understanding how race and racism have shaped American culture and institutions, including in our own community. Through a historical and cultural lens, the workshop will explore how systems and institutions shape outcomes in ways that may perpetuate inequities. Thanks to sponsor support, there is a sliding scale attendance fee.

Thinking About EfM? There’s Still Time to Participate

Classes Begin in September

There are still a few open spaces for our Tuesday evening EfM class! EfM, or Education for Ministry, is a program of study, conversation, prayer, and reflection, consisting of once-a-week seminar groups led by a facilitator or "mentor." You can enroll in the one-year survey track known as Wide Angle or take a deeper dive in the four-year program (enrolling one year at a time) called EfM Classic.

Groups begin in September and finish in late May or early June. Using reading materials, videos, and other resources, participants learn to use the process of theological reflection to explore the world and our place in it, and examine how our faith compels us to live.

EYC Needs You! Do You Have What it Takes to Be a Youth Advisor?

(Spoiler Alert: Yes, You Do!)

Our amazing EYC and Jr. EYC reconvene on Sunday, September 13, and they're headed into another awesome year of service, fellowship, learning, and fun. We're looking for a few good grownups (ages 19+) to help guide them through the year. Being a Youth Advisor is as simple as showing up on Sundays: our Junior EYC meets from 4-5 and our Senior EYC meets from 5-6:30. Advisors commit to come for one meeting or both, join in on the fun, and remain open and ready for connection with some of St. Andrew's greatest young church members. It's an incredibly rewarding way to invest in our youth—and a lot of fun, too. Interfaith Housing Initiative Begins Phase 2—Business Support Sought 

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors like St. Andrew's, the Interfaith Housing Initiative (IHI) has completed Phase 1 of its fundraising to provide six affordable houses to needy families in Greensboro.

Phase 2 is now underway, with a focus on support from businesses and corporations. If you are connected with a business, family foundation, or corporation that is community minded and might be interested, please ask them to reach out to Scott Neely at the link below.

Thank you for your year-round support of the SimpleWays food pantry. Our donations are delivered weekly to the pantry housed at Definition Church on Merritt Drive.

Most needed food items include rice, pasta, beans (dried and canned), canned vegetables, and canned meats and fish.
