Virtual Career Connection Fair
April 12-16, 2021

The Career Connection Fair will take place April 12-16, 2021 with the virtual job fair being held on April 14, 2021. The Career Connection Fair will be set up as a conference style virtual event for students, alumni, and community residents. The virtual format will allow you to manage your participation remotely, as your schedule permits using the Virtual Career Fair dashboard on the LCCC Career Link site. The dashboard will allow employers to set up a virtual booth, collect resumes, review candidates, and set up group or individual "meet & greet" opportunities.

Jessica Gibson, Web Development
Before Jessica Gibson (pictured left) discovered OhioMeansJobs Lorain County, she was working as a Brand Associate at Old Navy. Her job consisted of cleaning the store and placing merchandise on the sales floor on truck delivery days. Jessica stated that she made very little money, just enough to get by. Jessica shared the following with OMJLC.

Discouraged by my low-wage job, I decided to investigate my long-time interest in Web Development. I contacted Tech Elevator in Cleveland and I was referred to OhioMeansJobs Lorain County by the admissions counselors who had worked with the Cuyahoga County OMJ office. Emergency Rent Assistance
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be behind on rent or facing eviction, AND
  • Must live at or below 80 percent of the Area Median Income ($60,800 for a family of four in 2020, see below), AND
  • Must have been directly affected by COVID-19 (loss of income, increased expenses, etc.), OR
  • Be a member of a population especially vulnerable to COVID-19
Teens Learn to Build Websites this Summer and Get Paid!
Teens get paid to learn how to build websites with
TECH CORPS at Student WEB CORPS
Program Overview:
  • 6-week summer youth work experience focused on web development
  • Weekdays: June 21 — July 31, 2021
  • Job Requirements: Students must going into grade 11 or 12 in the Fall of 2021
  • Attend a Lorain County high school
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9am-2pm•
  • Students must be registered with OhioMeansJobs - Lorain County
  • Pay: $10.00 per hour    
  • Deadline to apply: April 30, 2021
  • *Students will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Attention Employers and Job Seekers!

Employers: On-the-Job Training (OJT) and Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) are services available to businesses to help offset the costs of hiring and training. Reimbursements available to businesses up to $3000/trainee for OJT's and up to 90% for IWT for WIOA eligible workers and qualifying companies.

Job Seekers: In addition to job search assistance, funding may be available through a WIOA Individual Training Account (ITA) for training or re-training in "in-demand" and "critical" occupations to those who qualify. Click here to request more information!
