Hi, Mentor !

We had some great training sessions last week and have several new mentors trained and ready to go! Thanks so much to all who attended. There are still a few of you on our mail list who have recently applied to serve as a mentor with Take Stock in Children but have not yet attended training. Please take a look at the dates and times below and let us know by simply selecting one of the time slots most convenient for you. You can also reply to this email or call our Mentor Coordinator, Gina Granger, at (813) 794-2134 to reserve a time slot or if you have any questions. Please note that Gina will be out of the office beginning Wednesday, 7/24, and returning Monday, August 12.

Mentors who completed training in the past with us are always welcome at any of these sessions but you are NOT REQUIRED to attend if you have completed training before with TSIC Pasco. Veteran mentors with experience in our program bring a wealth of knowledge and advice to the table that will certainly help new mentors-in-training and add to the discussion. We hope to see you there!

All training sessions will be held at the Pasco County School District Headquarters located at 7227 Land O' Lakes Blvd, Land O' Lakes, FL 34638, in either Building 2 or Portable 8A. Click here for a map of the district c omplex.

We are looking to add another class in mid-August possibly held at a Zephyrhills location for several new mentors in the east Pasco area that still need training. Date and location is TBD.
IMPORTANT! Any volunteers, including our mentors, who enter Pasco County Schools must submit an annual volunteer application and background check. July 1st was the start of the new year for the school district and so all of you who are continuing on as mentors with our program or just coming on board as new mentors, must click the link below to complete the Pasco County Schools Volunteer Application again. When school is back in session, the district staff who process these volunteer applications will be extremely busy so we urge you to complete this as soon as possible. Without an updated, approved district volunteer application on file, you will not be allowed to enter the school to meet with your student.
  • Monday, August 12 - First Day of School
  • August 12 - 23 - No mentor sessions with students during the first two weeks of school.
  • Tuesday, August 27, at 5:30PM - 6PM in Building 2 of the School District Complex, all mentors of new students entering our program are invited for an official Meet & Greet. You are also welcome to attend (but not required) the official Signing Event that takes place starting at 6PM with all new TSIC students and their families.

Plus we will need 20+ mentors for the new students entering the TSIC program in August. We are finalizing their paperwork now and making sure they meet the requirements.
