Profile Update
Saint Patrick Catholic Church is implementing a new Parishioner Relationship and Engagement database at Saint Patrick Catholic Church next month.

As part of the preparation for data migration from our current database, we need to make sure your contact information is correct.

It is essential we hear back from everyone regardless of whether changes need to be made.

The letter and the online form include an option to indicate that the information is correct.
Partners in the Gospel
Learn more about Partners in the Gospel, an initiative which impacts the Archdiocese of Seattle in the coming years. It's the initiative Father David referenced in his homilies and pastor letter in recent weeks..

The Archdiocese has prepared a basic overview, questions and answers, and a glossary of terms to help navigate the initiative together, plus a monthly update!

ALWAYS scroll to the bottom of The Cornerstone; you might need to click view the entire message if the email was clipped or view it as a webpage in the browser to stay informed about important news, events, and programs. LENT
Stations of the Cross
The Stations of the Cross is a 14-step Catholic devotion commemorating Jesus Christ's last day on Earth as a man. The stations are most commonly prayed during Lent on Fridays, especially on Good Friday, the day of the year upon which the events occurred.

Walk to Calvary with Jesus
The Health Ministry's annual Meatless Fridays in Lent campaign started on the first Friday of Lent and ends on Good Friday.

It's a wonderful way to improve not only your spiritual well-being but also your health. The Health Ministry invites you to try a new, tasty meatless recipe each week and recommends that you take a healthful walk of at least 1/3 of a mile each Sunday to commemorate the distance Jesus walked on his journey to Calvary and reflect on the Prayer for Sundays during Lent during your walk.

Everyone who goes meatless on all Fridays in Lent is eligible for a drawing to win a $100 Metropolitan Market gift card.

We're sharing meatless recipes from Metropolitan market selected by the Health Ministry each week. Check out the recipe for next week so you can shop for ingredients!
Enchiladas

Grab a can of green enchilada sauce, diced chiles, beans, some pepper-Jack cheese, and a white fish you choose, like Halibut, for a quick meatless enchilada meal on Fridays during Lent.

Lent can feel like a long time. Sometimes we’d like to skip right to Easter! But just like studying for a test, practicing a sport or saving money, we often must do difficult tasks, make sacrifices and overcome obstacles to reach a worthy goal.

Our sacrifices lead us to the Resurrection.

The 40 days we spend praying and doing penance help us prepare to celebrate the Church’s greatest feast day. Jesus had to go through his passion and death before he could rise. Our sacrifices enable us to experience—in a small way—Christ’s suffering, and they lead us to the joy and wonder of his resurrection.

How are you doing with your Lenten resolutions? How are your prayer, fasting and almsgiving going? Reflect on your Lenten journey and what you would like to accomplish or do differently during the final weeks of Lent to prepare for Easter.

75% of donations fund Catholic Relief Services’ agriculture, health and educational projects overseas. 25% is distributed as grants in Western Washington for local anti-hunger projects. Visit crsricebowl.org to learn more.

FAITH FORMATION
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
In the atrium, during the liturgical season of Lent, we look at locations within or near the City of Jerusalem. One of those places is the Cenacle.

The Cenacle
The children work with a raised surface model of the city of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is one of the most important cities in Israel because Jesus lived the most significant moments of his earthly life there. In the City of Jerusalem, we find the Cenacle or the Upper Room where Jesus celebrated the Last Supper and said those new and special words, “This is my Body…”, “This is my Blood….” The word Cenacle means “dining room.”

The Catechesis of a Good Shepherd is a Montessori-based approach to faith formation where children aged 3-12 are formed using a hands-on approach in the Catholic faith in a sacred space called the ‘atrium.

To learn more about CGS at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, visit the atrium, serve or train as a catechist, email Kim Ward, CGS Coordinator, or call 253-274-4108.

Also, visit the national CGS Association website and the local consortium website, The Sheepfold, to learn more and watch a video for a glimpse into atrium life.

PHOTO HIGHLIGHT
We loved watching the Irish Dancers perform at the Knights of Columbus Council 809 St. Patrick's Celebration. During the St. Patrick's season, the dancers give back to the community by performing at retirement homes, schools, community centers, churches, and more. After being away for years because of the pandemic, they were excited to perform again at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Tacoma!

If you missed it, watch them in one of their favorite dances— a hard shoe dance without music called Acapella.
