March is Women’s History Month
This Women’s History Month, we have been honoring the legacy of those women who opened doors and paved the way by continuing their spirit of leadership through mentorship. At Big Brothers Big Sisters, we see it happen every day: when girls connect with mentors who share their experiences and dreams. Every conversation, every achievement, every breakthrough adds to our community's story of progress. Because mentorship isn't just about guidance – it's about creating spaces where young people can see themselves in tomorrow's success stories.
Today, we honor two of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle’s executive leaders, Sabrina Slade and Kimberly Breeden. Sabrina became the first Executive Director of BBBS of Orange and Durham Counties in 2000. Kim was the CEO from 2002 to 2017. She led the reconfiguration of BBBS of Orange and Durham Counties with YMCA Big Brothers Big Sisters to form Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle, Inc.
Thank you, Sabrina and Kim, for believing in the power and promise of youth, driving our mission forward, and building up the mentorship movement in the Triangle. Join us in celebrating these women, the women in your lives, and the women who have been a consistent driving force behind positive change.
Mentorship is key to empowering the next generation of leaders. Let's make sure that Women’s History is part of the conversation, always.
