Big banks may have more branches, but try finding someone who’ll return your call. Even if you don’t stop by often, we’re here when it matters. We don’t need branches; we have roots. At Hyperion Bank, you’ll reach a real banker – someone who knows your name and lives nearby.

Customer focus: Organizing life, one relationship at a time
For Janet M. Taylor, life is about staying organized – and staying connected. As a professional organizer with decades of experience helping clients create order and peace in their homes and businesses, Taylor knows firsthand how much people value trust, especially when life feels overwhelming.
| | |
That same philosophy guides her approach to banking, recently sharing how her connection with Hyperion’s Nicole Leitz, a banker she initially met at another bank, became a cornerstone of her financial journey – especially during a personal crisis in 2020.
“Nicole wasn’t just helpful – she cared,” Taylor says. “She reached out during the early days of the pandemic, not to sell something, but to check in. And when my partner passed away, she helped me navigate complicated financial details with such compassion and professionalism. That kind of relationship is rare.”
| |
More recently, when Taylor experienced delayed payments from a major client, Nicole stepped in again, helping her work through the issue quickly and efficiently. “It reminded me that relationships in banking still matter,” Taylor says. “I trust Nicole. That’s huge.”
Taylor brings that same sense of trust and structure to her work as the founder of her own organizing consultancy, Totally Organized, LLC. She serves clients across the Philadelphia Region and, virtually, nationwide. Her mission? Helping people regain control over their spaces – and their lives – through practical, personalized organization systems.
“I had a client who lost her mother and was suddenly responsible for managing the household finances,” she shares. “We started with a simple spreadsheet to track monthly bills and payments. That small shift gave her back a sense of control.”
Taylor’s services are varied: she helps clients set up file systems, declutter homes, streamline closets and find sustainable organizing routines. While she doesn’t work with hoarding clients (as they often require specialized support), she is a big believer in breaking projects into manageable chunks.
“I tell people to pre-plan for 15 minutes every evening. That little habit makes mornings easier and keeps you from feeling behind before your day even starts,” she says, also offering free tips and encouragement through her “Toss It Tuesdays” social media series, in which she inspires followers to let go of one item each week.
Whether she’s helping someone purge paperwork or guiding them toward financial clarity, Taylor’s work is rooted in empathy, systems and strong relationships – principles she sees reflected in how Nicole and Hyperion operate.
“I’ve had accounts with big banks,” Taylor says, “but when it comes down to it, I want a bank that knows me – and wants to help me succeed.”

Samitrius Hart (NMLS# 2281887) joins us as a Loan Operations Specialist in the bank’s Philadelphia headquarters. “Samitrius has a quiet strength and deep focus that make her an invaluable part of our operations team,” Lou says. “She’s a true problem solver – someone who doesn’t just get things done, but makes sure they’re done right.”
Originally from the small town of Winnsboro, South Carolina, Samitrius started her banking career as a teller, where she quickly found comfort in recognizing familiar faces and building trust with customers. “I’m naturally pretty quiet,” she says, “so it was a great fit to work in a place where everyone knew each other. It helped me ease into the world of banking.”
Over time, her skills and interests led her into loan operations, where she thrives on detail and accuracy. “I love digging into the small things most people overlook. There’s something really satisfying about solving problems for colleagues and customers.”
Samitrius brings the same passion to her personal life. A self-proclaimed foodie, she loves exploring new restaurants and trying out anything creative – whether it’s an art exhibit, a thrift shop or a local music festival. Recently married, she and her husband are enjoying their new chapter together in Philadelphia.
Fun fact: Before joining Hyperion, Samitrius served as Assistant Manager at Republic Bank (Fulton), gaining a further understanding of both people and processes. Her well-rounded, collective experience now benefits Hyperion customers and team members every day.

Alexandra Cole is now a Human Resources Executive Assistant for Hyperion, also in Philadelphia. “We’re thrilled to welcome a new face to the Hyperion Bank team,” says Lauren Flowers, SVP, Human Resources & Corporate Secretary. “Although this is Alex’s first time working in banking, she brings a strong background in operations and a genuine passion for supporting people. With her thoughtful approach and natural ability to connect with others, she’s really making a meaningful impact here.”
A South Jersey native, Alexandra lives with her husband and two children, and their weekends are filled with youth sports, family activities and plenty of laughter. Whether they’re cooking together, watching food shows, or enjoying warm summer nights in the backyard with movies and swimming, quality time is at the heart of everything they do.
“After some time away, I’m excited to be back in the city and am diving in – advocating for employees, solving problems and trying to spread positivity,” she says.
Alexandra is a dedicated Disney fan who never misses a chance to visit, and a proud Bernedoodle owner who loves long walks with the pups. She asks a lot of questions which earned her the nickname “Q” growing up – and she still asks a lot of questions today. Fun fact: Alexandra is Greek and Italian – so don’t be surprised if you hear a joyful “Opa!” around the office.

April Jones is a Senior Universal Banker at Hyperion in Philadelphia. “April brings calm confidence and genuine care to every customer interaction,” says Ka’Rin Smith, Hyperion Branch Manager. “She has a natural ability to listen closely, explain clearly and guide people through their financial needs. Whether you're a longtime customer or walking into the branch for the first time, April is someone you can count on.”
Born and raised in Philadelphia, April originally considered a retail career – until she began exploring other paths and realized banking could offer more than just a paycheck. “As a young adult, I knew how important financial literacy was, and I wanted to learn as much as I could to help myself and others,” she says. Since entering the banking field, she’s done exactly that – growing her skills and becoming a trusted, go-to resource for customers and colleagues alike.
April is known for her patience, curiosity and willingness to find answers. “You can ask me anything,” she says. “And if I don’t know it, I’ll do everything I can to find out.”
Outside the bank, April is a proud pet parent to a lively household: three dogs, two birds and one cat. She’s an avid reader and a beauty enthusiast who considers makeup her favorite creative outlet. Family is at the center of her life, especially her mother Freda, whom she calls her greatest inspiration.
Fun fact: April’s dad wanted to name her Sunshine – but her aunt stepped in with the name April, and it stuck. “I'm grateful,” she laughs. “But I guess I still try to bring a little sunshine into everything I do.”
| | We’re in the thick of it! Nearly a quarter of all homes built in Philly in the last year were in one zip code: Ours. We’re 19123 proud, and, yes, we’re lending (ask us about personal & biz lending). This is also a good place to mention Hyperion Mortgage, our joint venture lending in Pennsylvania & Georgia (natch), as well as Alabama, Florida, New Jersey, South Carolina & Tennessee. (Offer of credit subject to approval.) | | | June is LGBT Pride Month, established after the Stonewall riots of June 1969, which proved to be a watershed moment for the gay community. Activities during the month largely center around recognizing & celebrating LGBT equal rights. Many Pride parades traditionally take place in June – as did Philadelphia’s – though some municipalities – like Atlanta – have moved Pride festivals to the Fall when weather is gentler & more predictable. Happy Pride to all who celebrate! | | | | | Look for Juneteenth activities in Atlanta & Philadelphia, and remember Hyperion Bank will be closed Thursday, June 19, for this Federal holiday. We’ll re-open at 9a that Friday, June 20. Enjoy community banking online in the meantime. “Juneteenth” – a portmanteau of “June” & “nineteenth” – is considered the oldest commemoration of the end of slavery in the U.S. On June 19, 1865, the Union Army finally brought news of emancipation to Texas, the furthest confederate state. A national expression of African American culture and freedom, it is celebrated both informally and officially, from family gatherings to parades and is also sometimes called “Freedom Day.” | | | Happy Father's Day to all dads! Did you know Father’s Day was first celebrated in 1910 in Spokane, Washington? It became a national holiday in 1972. Dad, pops, father…#TeamHyperion salutes you! 👨🦳 | | | July Fourth! Hyperion Bank will be closed Friday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. (Enjoy Online Banking anytime, 24/7.) Whatever your plans for the Fourth, be safe & have fun.🧺 | | | | | The first day of Summer is Friday, June 20. As you reflect on the year so far and look ahead, Summer may be a good time to put the building blocks of new financial and business goals in place. Let us know if your community banking partner can help you streamline business or personal finances or otherwise help you tee up whatever is “next!”🏖️ | | | You may see news about the recent sale of Piedmont Center, the office campus where our Atlanta banking office is located. The property was acquired June 3 by a partnership led by CP Group. This is strictly a change in property ownership. Our lease remains in place, so it’s business as usual for us. We do not anticipate any disruption to our daily operations or workspace. As we learn more about improvements by new ownership, we’ll be sure to communicate those timely. Photo: Robin Henson | | | |
