Farmer Update: March 2022
Dear Farmers and Food Producers:
On this especially warm day, we are wishing you a happy spring! We hope this week of sunshine and ground-thawing temperatures has allowed you to get a jumpstart on your preparations for the season. We'd also like to remind you that the SEMAP team is happy to stop by your farm to discuss challenges you're facing and ways we can support you. Put us to work while we chat β weeding, seeding, anything that's helpful!
When not out in the field this spring, we are also putting together 2022's Local Food Guide. This guide goes out to thousands of local residents by way of farmers' markets, local grocers, CSAs, tourist centers, and more. Please be sure to add or update your listing by completing this very brief form, and ask all your local food producer friends to do the same!
In this email you'll find information on:
- Last month's Ag & Food Conference
- Current grant programs for food producers
- Land leasing opportunities
- Educational events and workshops
- Local farming jobs
- And more!

Interns Available Through Bristol Community College
The Sustainable Agriculture Program at Bristol Community College is launching their new internship program, and they are looking for farms to host students. Students will take on internships lasting a semester during the Fall, Spring or Summer requiring 8-10 hours a week devoted to working within their desired field.
Farmers interested in this program are asked to make a free account through College Central Network, where you can post unlimited job and internship positions. This allows BCC students to find and apply to openings on your farm. Any questions can be sent to the Experiential Education Center by email or on the Fall River campus.
